Why do christians not do things like murder,cheat,steal? Because the 10 commandments command them not to or they will face eternity in hell with a devil sticking a pitchfork up their arse. Religion, all religions is silly, we know there were multiple religions pre-christianity with a pretty similar story. God magically spoke to his people at times of need all throughout the bible yet today with camera phones rampant we see nothing. I borderline feel dumb for having gone to christian schools my whole childhood with chapel everyday now that im an adult.

I know plenty of religious people who if it was proven god wasn't real would definitely cheat on their wives or other things the bible would condemn. Have you tested this belief by looking at available correlations? I doubt any definitive causal factors for crime will be found, but the correlations are discussion-worthy.

I suspect you'll find that religious participation in the US has gone down and atheism has increased over the same time frame that crime rates have also dropped.

In other words, the relationship may be inverse of what you believe it is.
