A school bus with 50 kids on it who are all buckled up in a seatbelt, gets in a wreck and they need to get the kids out ASAP. Do you think it would be a good idea to have them strapped and trying to get them all to unbuckle?? Depending on the situation, some will have trouble doing it.
A wreck that involves a bus that holds.. I don't know.. Maybe 50-60 people? Is different than a personal vehicle. First of all.. Would you rather be in a car and get hit by a bus? Or be in a bus and get hit by a car?

Because they are the ones that have to scrape you off the road when you don’t wear your seatbelt.

I think firemedics do the scraping.

shite, I've never seen a perp buckled up in the backseat of a cop car. Why don't they ticket themselves?

Why do police give tickets for speeding when they speed themselves?

Could you imagine seatbelts on a school's bus? How many stranglations would occur per day?

Motorcycle cops...no seat belt.

Traffic tickets have become a source of funding instead of a safety reminder or punishment.
Children don't have money.

Especially in states that allow motorcycles riders to not wear helmets
Posted on 3/9/20 at 4:55 am to Byrdybyrd05
Cause they can't make revenue from school buses.

Wearing seat belt should be optional according to the law and shouldn’t be a ticket worthy offense.
Not wearing a seat belt is idiotic as it’s been proven that they help prevent catastrophic injuries. Also, it should be able to be presented in court if you were or weren’t wearing a seatbelt on civil law suits as evidence. It currently cannot be in Louisiana

I’m going to need to see a link for that one

Unbelievable. Trial lawyers ftw

Wearing your seatbelt is not only for your safety, but for everyone else's as well.
I can't think of a case where someone else was injured because the driver wasn't wearing their seat belt. This is just an argument people use to promote big government. By your own logic you should be against helmet laws.

I got a seatbelt ticket years ago from a motorcycle cop.

He explained his logic if you bothered to read past what you quoted fwiw

Just get robbed for a meh amount (500-5,000) and they don't even bother investigating anymore. They agree with you, right up a report, and everyone goes to the insurance company. Hell, the courts have maintained they can lie to you without repercussion, and they have zero duty to stop active shooters
With laws like the one in California where people can steal $900 worth of stuff and not get prosecuted, why even have cops anymore?

Don’t like seatbelts, be safe and ride a motorcycle

Have you ever been in an accident? When you're involved in an accident where the impact is so severe it'll throw you out of the drivers seat if you're not wearing your seatbelt, you're not maintaining control of anything.
I'm all for wearing seatbelts, but the law was created for tax revenue. It should be your choice.

I would love for one of the anti-seatbelt wearers to list reasons not to wear one.
