Why do the police give us a ticket for not wearing seatbelts

but every school bus that kids ride on don’t have to wear a seatbelt? If they care about our safety you would think they would start with our kids who ride the school bus.

You only have to wear seat belts in the front seat. Try again..

Because they dont want to see your dead mangled body from your bad driving.

There has to be a cheap ticket to be able to downgrade to when you get a real ticket fixed.

You can pay the tickets.

Once you figure out the police mostly exist for taxation purposes, things start making sense. Like why hide to catch speeders when you can park your patrol car and they'll stop speeding? Why is civil asset forfeiture a thing? On what planet should the police be able to keep any of the money they bring in for budget purposes? It's all about money.
Just get robbed for a meh amount (500-5,000) and they don't even bother investigating anymore. They agree with you, right up a report, and everyone goes to the insurance company. Hell, the courts have maintained they can lie to you without repercussion, and they have zero duty to stop active shooters.

because the city needs to raise some money

Because enforcing every kid on a school bus to wear a seatbelt is near impossible for a driver. Also, money

As for school buses, the kids are actually safer without seatbelts. Buses are among the heaviest vehicles on the road, they are built like tanks. The risk of injury in an accident on a school bus is very low. So low that there is a greater risk of injury or death due to a fire or submerged bus. In these cases the kids need to exit quickly, and seatbelts will slow them down or trap them.

I have never seen a cop wearing a seatbelt. Never

Because we live in a nanny state. Seatbelts are for our own good, so the government forces us to wear them.
I don't understand how seatbelts are mandatory, but smoking is allowed. If you can choose to smoke, you should be allowed to choose going beltless. My body, my choice.
As for school buses, they usually move too slowly for seatbelts to be necessary (when factoring in the weight of a bus compared to a car and the height of a bus)

You do not have to wear a seatbelt on a bus either. It’s not just children/school buses.

The tall backed cushioned seat on a school bus flexes in an accident, and acts as a way to slow a child's body down over a lengthened period of time, just like a seat belt in a car. If the kid is not sitting correctly, or at all, they may be screwed.
Jul 20, 2017 - In fact, riding a school bus is 13 times safer than riding in the family vehicle. And students are 70 times more likely to arrive at school alive if they ride the bus versus driving themselves or riding with friends, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Busses are just safer because of physics.
Both of the no-seatbelt tickets I’ve received in my lifetime were given out of pure mercy when I should have received a bigger consequence. So I’m okay with it.

I was in a school bus that was involved in a wreck... part of a ROTC group that had just finished marching in a mardi gras parade and was returning home
We were in the process of making a turn when we were t-boned at a fairly good rate of speed right behind the rear tire
our bus barely moved... the car that hit us on the other hand... let's just say there was immediate complaining of broken bones

We had a bus rider fatality this school year. 5 year old was at the front of the bus and a car impacted the bus throwing the child out the front door. Freak accident, if the kid was anywhere else in the bus, he likely would have been okay. Again, freak accident that shouldn't have happened and odd how the young boy met his maker.
