re: Why do some people insist on having girl dogs exclusively?

Having some professional training helps. My wife is a former cop and teaches law enforcement. She has friends that were K9 handlers. I have a friend that was a K9 handler in the military. It isn't our dog's entire life like an active duty military/LEO K9, so there are tests. It's way more of a test of your own abilities/maturity when something happens as it is yours. It also 100% shows who has the bigger imprint on the dog. He'll test my wife with not staying in his spot. He'll test me with showing teeth and growling. I'm not gonna dissuade that, or discipline him in those circumstances. I'm gonna reinforce that we're on the same side. Treat the behavior like he's done something well on command, and reward him. Even military/LEO K9's bite their handlers. I'd rather it be me than my wife or child.

The females don’t go around pissing on posts or furniture legs to mark their territory and don’t hump your couch throw pillows

I had beagles a good many years,I preferred females also. They were more focused ,hunted harder and minded better.
I did have one outstanding male dog but I had others that were kinda lazy, would hang around the edges of the briars waiting for the females to get a rabbit going.

Male dogs can be more driven but they also tend to be a little more wild and easily distracted.
Well, if they are intact then they are seeking pussy like a teenage boy. It’s hard to worry about fetching when you’re trying to get laid. If neutered, it’s a different story.

I think it has more to do with how you raise them and the dogs personality honestly.
It's hit or miss in my experience. Female lab did her own thing, didn't care about me much. Male lab was super attached to me, always stayed right with me, never had to be disciplined or yelled at, loved riding in the truck. Best dog I ever owned was Male Black Lab.

Our females have alwYs been more protective and aggressive. They are the definition of bitches.
Our males have always been just like your average guy. Goofy, smarter, lazy, better sense of humor, either destroying something or loving you... Never in between.
We buy male dogs.

Female dogs will tend to lie down in the room next to you vs male dogs will want to lie down under your feet.
However I don't think the people who insist on having a female dog know this. I think they just want to avoid the red rocket, leg humping, ball licking, and wall pissing.

I was told that a male dog that isn’t neutered will become aggressive as they age and will wonder to spread his seed. Like, break out the yard to frick bitches wander.

I don't mind if I get challenged or bit every now and then
However, the main point I'm keyed in on, is the "every now and then."
Okay, one time bite we can work with him, but getting regularly bit more than 1 time, if that's what you mean, is unacceptable. Under no circumstances will my dog bite me more than once and it's hunky-dory, ho-hum. Either he's a problem, or I'm doing something really dumb to illicit that response, or both.
A dog prone to biting its owner, especially without major provocation, should be bred out of every gene pool of every breed.
I actually prefer males for bird dogs because of their drive and independence. Once broken, which is not a one-and-done occurrence, they will part the waters when they hit it, my male upland bird dogs are hard headed sum bitches, but they won't quit. My house dog, I much prefer a female.

My males (husky and GSD) have been the best, most well behaved dogs I’ve owned
I have two female GSD’s and they’re much more challenging

We got the female doodle puppy in my avatar pic when the kids were really young because I didn’t want to worry about the dog when it was around the boys growing up and liked the idea of the dog not shedding everywhere. I don’t know if we just got lucky but she is the sweetest lovingest animal I’ve ever been around. She won’t leave the yard and never chewed anything. The dog still has every toy we’ve ever given her and keeps them all in a bin. Also, has never bitten anyone or been aggressive at all.
Only downside is she is a good alarm dog but I don’t see her attacking anyone for any reason. If we’re walking and another dog barks at her she jumps behind me. We also think she’s scared of the dark.
Also, she follows me around the house all day which can drive you nuts.

Personally I like female dogs for hunting and male dogs for family dogs.

I've had a lot of dogs over the years, both sexes, and they were all great.
