Because it's a blend of coonasses and east Texans. Two totally different types of people. i will admit they get along and are synergistic but they are not the same and deserve their own regional tag.

SWLA; us and JD Parish, Cameron Parish, etc.

Just like how BR is a blend of coonasses and Mississippi rednecks. It's 45 mins or less from BR to MS border. Houma isn't at all like Lafayette etc, it isn't homegenous.

Honestly I think the Golden Triangle is more LA than Texas.

Whereas Shreveport is more Texas than LA.

Maybe they say it isn’t part of Acadiana because it’s not part of Acadiana. Look it up.

Although in the heart of Cajun country and home to many coonasses.

Gueydan and all the Podunk towns up to Crowley were settled by many Germans.

Do people consider Grand Isle part of Acadiana, though? I am far from 100% sold on that.

Culture in Gueydan undoubtedly south louisiana, the germans assimilated just like St. James and St. Charles parishes

It's always seemed like a bit of a mix to me. There are plenty of people I'd consider plain old Jefferson Parish yats. Probably some Cajuns, some Coonasses, etc., but "Acadiana" seems like a stretch.

Houma is gutter trash that’s why. Lake Charles isn’t really Cajun either, it’s more like south east Texas than Cajun country.

Industry wise it is very similar to Baton Rouge with the downstream business. Much different than Lafayette there
