McNeese Cowboys. East Texas? Makes sense to me.
If you'd learn some Louisiana history, it would make sense for Louisiana as well.
Calcasieu Parish is part of Acadiana for the same reason Lafayette Parish is--the Acadians settled there when they came to this land. The name comes from the French spelling of the name of an Atakapas chief.
If it had always been Spanish controlled, like Texas, the river would still be called the Rio Hondo.

Lived here my whole life.
Have never considered this area Acadiana. Not have I ever considered it East Texas like some uneducated goon.
It’s SWLA. Always has been. Just like Alex is CENLA.

I grew up there, and still have family there. It's SWLA, but its also part of Acadiana. The two are not mutually exclusive.
It is probably more accepted today to call the area the Acadians settled "Cajun Country" since "Acadiana" seems to only refer to the area comprised of Evangeline, Acadia, St. Landry, St. Martin, Lafayette, Vermilion, Iberia, and St. Mary parishes.
Regardless, Acadiana would have traditionally included the area that now encompasses Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis Parishes as well.

Who give a shite what the people of Lafayette think about the people of Lake Charles.

Well, you care enough to use stupid names for it. What part of Lafayette do you live in? I bet you don't even live in Lafayette. I bet you're from the Berry. How does this picture make you feel?

I taught history in Louisiana for 17 years so I am familiar. Lol. Lighten up Francis, it was just a joke.

Well, pardon me. Most people that make that joke are dumbasses that have no idea the significance of the cattle industry and cowboys to Louisiana's history.

I've lived in Laffy for more than 10 years and never met anyone who gives a shite.

This is true. SWLA and SETX overlap. There’s cowboy culture in SWLA and there’s Cajun culture in SETX. Why can’t people grasp this concept? It’s quite simple. A good portion of prairie Cajuns are tied to the agriculture and cattle industry. They grow rice and crawfish in SETX the same way they do in SWLA. Not to the same degree but it’s there.

That is such bs. You are generalizing bad. Just because one redneck in Beaumont said it that way does not mean that’s how they all pronounce it there. It’s the same thing dude SETX & SWLA are interchangeable. It’s not that hard to understand.
