Why do LSU fans call the LSU logo/mascot Toonces?

I don't see it. Is there a particular picture that makes them look similar that I'm missing?

The outstretched paws and weird face. It's a bad logo. It makes everything look cheap.

The eyes and the outstretched arms.
Toonces is one of the worst logos that I have ever seen.
Who ever decided that it was a good idea to use Toonces as a logo deserves to be shot.

I refuse to buy any clothes with toonces on it. The sad part is LSU won two National Championships during Toonces reign, so every piece of memorabilia has it plastered on it.
