The heyday of the ice cream truck was back when most people probably didn't have their own freezer. Since most households now have them there is no need for the ice cream man in the majority of neighborhoods anymore.

My neighborhood must be shitholes because the ice cream man passes through it. But to be fair, he only passes at certain times. No shite. As soon as they start selling fireworks for the 4th, he is making his rounds. Early evening.. Kids shooting fireworks. They see him and you can see kids running inside, 3 mins later one of their parents coming out with them..

Also, across the highway from my neighborhood is the rec ballpark.. When they built the park they added extra parking that is right off the highway. He comes down my street, gets on the hwy, then turns around in that parking lot.. A little while later, I will hear the truck, I think he comes back down my street, goes through the neighborhood again then goes through the parking lot again. He must do it 4 or 5 times... And must get business every time because sometimes I will hear or see him 15 mins later, sometimes an hr later..
