For the same reason that you probably lied about your height.

Snapchat/Instagram filters are a mother fricker.

Same thing happened to me. Girl looked decent in her pics. Shows up to the restaurant and immediately saw the look of disappointment on my face. I was polite and didn’t point out the obvious and went on with the dinner.
Girl was a complete count. After she realized I wasn’t down to frick a troll that night she turned into a complete bitch and left after a quick appetizer.

Pro tip: don't do dinner on a first date; you end up with dinner whores who just ghost.
You are welcome for that free advice.

I don’t get that either. The padded bras, layers of makeup, extensions, and fake eyelashes will come off, and guys are gonna see what you really look like. Same thing with photoshop and filters.

Those were instant pass when I was on the apps for the few months I was on them. That, all pictures of their face, and having all big group pictures so you couldn't figure out which one was the single were also instant pass for me.

If any of the pics they provide have a filter of any sort, or duck lips, it's an immediate pass for me.

So, she was so bad you didn't even go for the one nighter?

Bitch looked like she could play linebacker for the Bears.

Zoom cocktail hours are the best way to see what she looks like and determine if there's chemistry. Have a few of those before committing the time and money of a full evening.

I can take a filter or two, but dumb face selfies immediately tell me that our mistaken offspring should be subject to eugenics.

Now I have to ghost her and she will get her feelings hurt
Or, you can say..."thank you, but I'm not interested."

You have to do your due diligence and find their fb / IG profile. If you can’t confirm anything else about them, don’t go.

That's one of the gayest things I've ever read.

Most people (both men and women) think much more highly of themselves than others do. I feel pretty confident these people assume they'll go in the date with you and captivate you with their personality or whatever else, so it won't matter that they portrayed themselves better looking than they are.
And truth is, some of them probably do.

Covid hasn't been kind to the dating scene. I'm 32 and on dating apps, with a lot of guy friends who are as well. It's not that big of a deal.
I guess I'm just old fashioned.

Beats wasting an entire night and a hundred bucks on a middle linebacker. Worked great for me.

I will go out to drink regardless. If I like the woman, I'll pay for her. If not, my baws know the signal for a split bill. I just can't imagine doing a virtual date before going out with someone. Some snapchats, sure, but I have better things to do on my computer than talk to some rando. Like posting on TD.

I'm getting kind of old and have been married for a long time so I've never used a dating app.
My only similar experience was meeting a girl on Yahoo chat rooms while I was at LSU. Pre cellphone days and all but she wasn't quite as cute in person as the pic she emailed me. She was about 15-20 lbs heavier. But hell I drove 45 minutes to meet her and spent $60 I probably didn't really have on dinner
