Someone having a deathly allergic reaction can only survive by spend a large amount of money for a life saving shot.
Meanwhile the addict on his 5th OD this month gets a Narcan shot like it’s stickers?

B/c Pharma and Insurance are 2 of the most backwards arse groups we have today

They are expensive. I got one from a friend of mine as he was dying. He really wanted me to have it.

Because.... government and big pharma

Democrats value druggie voters more than you

Neither chemical is expensive. Naloxone nor epinephrine.
Tax dollars subsidize the delivery mechanism for one and not the other. That's one answer. There are other reasons too.
My favorite conspiracy theory is that drug addicts take opioids and have lots of other pharmaceutical habits, produced by big pharma, and if they die, they can't take drugs anymore, so narcan keeps em ticking.

Ask John Kerry and his daughter. He used his Senate influence to block epipen competitors from getting approval to hit market. Meanwhile, his daughter was CEO of the company making epipens. She raised the price from around $1 to hundreds of dollars.
EDIT: I was incorrect. It was Joe Manchin and his daughter on this one. Kerry pulled some crap for his daughter, but it was not epipen.

Because for some reason the government and companies involved with the government care more about non-contributors than contributors.

This makes me so angry every day. Epipens can also be interchanged with insulin.

They don’t cost that much if you have insurance.

They do not cost that if you are smart. A 2 pack of generic EpiPens costs $180 at Walmart if you use GoodRx. Not exactly cheap but $90 per injector is cheaper than a funeral and is not $800.

One group will pay for the $800 to stay alive while the other group won't

Insurance companies are getting drug thru the gravel by:
1.) pharma
2.) injury attorneys
3.) medical providers
Those cost are then passed down to us. It really is that simple.
The only people who can fix this are elected officials. Pisses me off and is the definition of fraud.
Rant over.

We indirectly subsidize medications throughout the world since most countries only allow 2-3% above cost pricing.

Same reason why police don’t set up inspection sticker checkpoints in the ghetto.

You’re right both should be 800 bucks
Us boomers didn’t have either back in the day because we weren’t allergic to peanuts and didn’t do drugs like you millenials

I started allergy shots recently and they required me to get an epipen. Don't really need it but they said it was standard operating procedure. I have a HDHP that I hadn't hit the deduct yet, but for some reason my cost was $0.
