The difference between alcohol and cigarettes is other than drunk driving (which is illegal) alcohol only kills the user. Second hand smoke kills others

I have a profound, philosophical objection to any program that spends taxpayer money on discouraging perfectly legal behavior. Those anti-smoking ads are probably the best example.

Even if it saves taxpayers money in the long run with having to cover their medical bills?

There are some pretty overwhelming public policy reasons to spend taxpayer dollars on anti-smoking campaigns, not the least of which is the fact they save taxpayer money in the long term.

They’re not any more dangerous than alcohol

If you drank as many drinks as smokers smoked cigarettes you’d probably die even sooner.

Alcohol is more fun though so it gets a pass

I think it’s less about what it does to the individual smoker and more that non smokers don’t want to smell it everywhere they go

I kind of like the way a woman of smells after she smokes a cigarette.

It's an aromatic middle finger thrust upward at the flabby, faux-tolerant, fear-based adulthood of 2019 America, and it holds out the possibility of something better than all that.

It's the tattoo of an era where tattoos have become meaningless, but a smoke says it all.

If it's good enough for ONJ, it's good enough for me.

Cigs are not more harmful as alcohol or cheeseburgers. Most vices actually.

What is more harmful, whiskey, cheeseburgers or cigarettes? If you had the same amount of each. 1 cig a week vs 1 cheeseburger a week vs 1 bourbon a week? What about 10 cigs a day or 10 cheeseburgers a day or 10 bourbons a day?

Not sure why people are so up in arms about it either.
