The 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Day are two separate and distinct celebrations. Go to vigil Mass Saturday and Sunday.

In general, it’s because of their history. For the vast majority of its history, the Catholic Church was very heavy handed if not outright ruthless. Not only to non believers but believers that stepped out of line or fell on the wrong side of political issues.
ETA. I don’t dislike Catholics nor do I think it’s fair to hold present Catholics responsible for these abuses. But just throwing in my explanation for the apparent distrust.

And to answer your original question, probably because Catholicism is considered the "one true church" in the sense that Jesus made St. Peter the first pope ("you are the rock and upon the rock I will build My church and even the gates of hell will not go against it").
People wanna get all salty because big guns Jesus created the Catholic religion. It's hard being #2, I guess.

As a practing Catholic. Go Saturday and Sunday. If it’s a problem it’s not the Church it’s you. Go and enjoy the sacrifice of the Mass both days. Your family would appreciate it. Besides you might enjoy the Christmas music both days. Merry Christmas.

Meh.
Most normal Christians don't have issues with Catholics. A lot of back woods mouth breathing people that are baptist do. The extreme non denomination groups do as well, but they hate everyone not exactly like them

You really have no clue about the Catholic religion. I agree there are parishes and certain areas that are more concerned about money than they should be. However the Catholic Church is single handedly the worlds largest charitable organization as it should be. If Baton Rouge didnt have Catholic charities of Baton Rouge here we would be in a world of trouble. Who do you think runs Bishop Ott Mens shelter, St Vincent De Paul homeless drop in and the St Agnes battered womens shelter along with many ither organizations that help ekderly and so forth. I have found that many, especially northern Catholics, are democrats mostly because of how they feel on social econimic issues but i can tell you prior to this election my priest reminded everyone that voting for anyone pushing for additional legislation to support abortion could be detrimental with their spiritual life. Those that do vote for candidates promoting abortion afre not following the faith, even the Pope has talked about this.

As a Catholic, I’ve more than once heard that we are not real “Christians.” Apparently, some folks think we worship the pope and not Jesus. I don’t get it either.

I probably will, but I dislike priests talking about what “counts.” That pisses me off. We are begging for attendance, but have no trouble at high holidays to piss off/guilt the people who are there.

I have no real issues with Catholics, some of the things they do are confusing, and not biblical, according to my bible.
Confessing sins to another man, who bestows some kind of absolution for them? Can't find that anywhere, just the opposite, in fact. Then calling dang near everyone father. My bible explicitly says don't do that. Guess that's more of a pet peeve. Then there's the deification of both men and women, who are humans and therefore sinners like everyone else. Even notoriously so, in many cases.
