Why do 24 hour news channels suck so bad?

Apparently the US just attacked Iran.
Turn on Fox News and they are talking about everything but that.
Why be on 24 hours if you have no idea how to pivot?
Same thing goes for ESPN. They have no clue how to pivot.

They at least got something on it./ Defensive strikes.

There is very little news. It’s all commentary.
I rarely watch any of them, and quickly regret it when I do.

Because there really isn’t enough actual news to fill nonstop coverage, and you can only talk about the same shite over and over so long before it sucks ans is beyond annoying (and that actually doesn’t take very long to achieve anyway).

Dude calm down. It was just a targeted strike on tiny islands along the strait. It’ll be all right Karen. It’s not Pearl Harbor

Because they create shite and don’t report truthfully. All slanted towards their own agenda, whatever that is.

You can pay dozens of correspondents and camera crews scattered all over the world only to have them scooped by the interne anyway.
Or you can pay a fraction of that to a couple of talking heads to sit in a studio and bloviate and rage bait the old folks who make up what's left of your audience.

Hmmm, I could think of a few good reasons why Fox News wouldn't want to talk about the US attacking Iran again. The rest of them, well they're probably too busy drooling over stupid polls to spend time covering anything else.
Y'all remember when this wasn't a war and it was just an operation that would only last a few days?
Clown arse administration. Hopefully, we send them a message today. We're better than this as a country.

That was the beauty of something called Headline News a 30 minute newscast every half hour 48 times a day. Short informative news stories, first segment was top US stories, second segment was world news, third segment was business news or sports depending on the half hour, the forth segment was weather, which was a collection of maps with temps and conditions, or Hollywood stories, and the fifth segment was usually a fun segment with a Jeanne Moos package or an uplifting story about how one town helped a kid do something special.

Because Kige Ramsey is only semblance of REAL journalism we have left in this country and he can’t be bought.

Imagine how bad the alternative was two years ago to have America vote for a “clown” administration. President Biden and Kamala Harris were so bad they gave you a “clown”. It must be killing you every time you hate on this administration to think, “how bad was the President Biden administration and the option of Kamala Harris that the American people chose this over us?”
Dems will win today because the party of sitting presidents loses midterms. President Obama lost 63 representative seats and six senate seats in the most lopsided route since President Roosevelt in 1938. President Trump lost 41 representative seats in the last mid terms and the public still voted him back in office after four years of President Biden and the prospect of Kamala Harris being president.
OP, 24 hour news sucks because there is no long enough news to report on and talking heads are only there to spread a narrative. Negative news drives ratings. People tuning in to 24 hours news networks want to be told how to think and what to believe, so the networks offer them that option on both the left and right.

My Father in Law has on Fox News all day. I can handle it when I’m over there.. a “Breaking News” segment occurs every 15 minutes and rarely is it ever actually breaking news. More often not it’s news that was already reported on another show earlier

I was going to mention this. It was a great setup.
You knew going in it was on a loop so you just watched one half hour.

They've always sucked, you were just too young to pay attention. I remember when in the first Gulf War, CNN (the US version, not CNNi with Stuart Varney) put up a silhouette of an A-6E Intruder, but labeled it as an F-15 or some shite. Now, my dad did do flashcards with me to identify USSR bombers and fighters for fun, but a barely-teenager shouldn't be able to get right what an entire editing department screwed up.
