re: Why did people in the 60-70s look like they were in their 40s in their 20s?

Men had testosterone back then. They didn't buy facial creams from Ulta or use color in the hair.

Man that is crazy. Grady looks like he is 60

Realistically because they were in the sun way more than we are now, from childhood to adulthood. Makes you look older

And women used Ponds Cold cream not Botox and fillers. Maturing wasn't something people feared back then. Elders were respected. We are living in a time of perpetual adolescence. The smoking and other things are all valid but if you took those same people and applied all the youth chasing measures folks use today they would've looked younger too.

Everyone lived in a constant cloud of cigarette smoke until the early 80s. No one wore sun screen. Seems like people drank more. Executives had bars in their office. I had friends whose dad's had repair businesses and they drank beer and smoked all day.

My late father-in-law was born in 26 and at age 16 he lied about his age and joined the U.S. Navy in 42 and his picture from that time looks like a guy in his mid 20's.
There was a family picture of him, his 10 other siblings, mom and dad and it looked like a family scene similar to the painting "American Gothic" with not a single smile to be had by any of them.

Too many vapid dipshits in their 40s and above still trying to live a college lifestyle.
Women over 40 trying to look like 20 year old hookers is a colossal embarrassment yet its the new fad.

Life was harder when you had to go outside to do things

Because Testosterone levels have plummeted to an all time low.

I don’t disagree smoking ages you but I had one grandfather who smoked and my other grandparents didn’t smoke. They all looked the same. Women just had bad hair styles in their middle age back then.

Did I see a young Steve Earle wearing the black hoodie?

Andy Griffith and Don Knots were 34 and 36 ... and didn't look a day under 50.

Everyone was constantly exposed to second hand smoke when in public until the early 80s. People even smoked in hospitals. Teachers smoked in the classroom.

Life wasn’t easy back in the day and it took its toll.

Obligatory 45 year old Tom Brady vs. 38 year old Kenny Stabler
Stabler would have given Keith Richards a run for his money. Brady has hundreds of millions and is probably a vegan.
