Why did France and Britian declare war on Germany and not the Soviet Union in WW2

The Soviet Union also invaded Poland and also Finland. The soviets like Germany also had labor camps and committed mass murder. Why was the Soviet Union not considered an enemy at that time?

The Soviet Union did not invade or bomb them.
Next question.

The UK had an agreement to protect Poland.
You may want to read up on the Treaty of Versailles and what happened after WW One.

IIRC Gen. Patton and Winston Churchill wanted to continue WWII taking on USSR after Germany's surrender. So they kind of were considered the enemy.

It was a conspiracy by the shadow globalist elite to install a new world order.
Duh.

I’ve always wondered this too. There are a lot of things the USSR did before WWII, and during it, that they don’t teach us in schools. They were doing the same things the Nazis were doing. Shoot, they were doing Nazi type things, before the Nazis even really got started with the Holocaust.

The reason why Britain didn’t declare war on the Soviet Union is an intriguing one. Unknown to the general public there was a ‘secret protocol’ to the 1939 Anglo-Polish treaty that specifically limited the British obligation to protect Poland to ‘aggression’ from Germany.
quote:
When people questioned why Britain did nothing when the Red Army moved on Poland, the British government considered revealing the existence of the secret part of the agreement. However, they decided not to, Sir Alexander Cadogan of the Foreign Office explaining privately that to do so “would only provoke curiosity about the existence of similar secret protocols attached to other treaties…” An answer given in the House of Commons in October 1939 revealed only that the Poles had “understood” that “the agreement should only cover the case of aggression by Germany.”

No they did, again. Like the 2nd or I believe 3rd partition of Poland. They even allowed Germany to build their military out in Russia beforehand to skirt WW1 regulations of them.

I’m pretty sure he was saying that the soviets didn’t invade France or Britain.

Lots of Poles, Jews, eastern europeans and western Europeans died fighting Germany or in Russian Gulags during a period where Russia was friendly to Hitler

Germany and USSR had an agreement before the war, which Germany almost immediately violated after invading Poland because they took control of an area that USSR was supposed to get. From that point on, their agreement fell apart and they were feuding. Churchill likely sensed the animosity and knew they could make Germany fight on multiple fronts if they turned the USSR into a temporary ally on the basis of annihilating Germany
Hitler would go on to straight up invade USSR, sealing the deal for Soviet cooperation with the Allied Nations. Soviets ended up having some cooperated missions with Britain against the Axis powers. The Soviets also had a history of feuds with Japan, so the Axis alignments would have been a disaster if the Soviets joined and were butting heads with their “allies”
Also France is generally chicken shite since the French Revolution so not sure why OP even references them

Ah okay. Could have been better written, but fair enough. As long as it's not a pseudo moral argument.
