Do schools need to serve to get fed dollars?

free and reduced lunch must stay open...

Poor kids whose parents can't afford to feed them
Posted on 3/15/20 at 4:59 pm to fatboydave
Because there’s a larger majority of inner city public school kids whose only food during the week comes from their school cafeteria

Some depend on them for daily meals. Helping the communities I suppose.

Great question !!!!!! Let's shutter private business but we must open the lunchrooms at public schools. Oh, the irony.

Wouldn’t it make sense to give the parents SNAP benefits to keep kids at home?

My wife is a teacher and she’s being told by her district that her and her fellow teachers will be responsible for delivering meals to students homes. As much as it is about making sure they have food to eat, you bet your arse it’s also about not losing that funding. Crazy times.

Because for a lot of students it is the only meal they will get, why not do something good for those who can't afford?

People need sterilized in this country!
Posted on 3/15/20 at 5:04 pm to fatboydave
Would be racist for public school parents to be expected to feed their kids now for a few weeks

Can't teach you, Don't gather over 250 people but come get together to eat?

No because the parents have proven in every instance they’ll use the money in any other way other than bettering the lives of their own children at the detriment of their conveniences.
Those snap benefits wouldn’t go to the kids and then when they’re still hungry you’ll be asking why we don’t open the lunch rooms

When my ex began teaching, her kids would come to school starving.
So we would get a whole bunch of breakfast stuff and they would get so pumped because they could actually eat.

Can't feed em, don't breed em.

No, no I won’t
Then we need to go back to specific items that can be purchased
Why should tax payers have to double pay because parents spend food money on crap?

how do these people feed their kids over the summer?
