Then we need to go back to specific items that can be purchased

Oh ok.

In that case:

the parents have proven in every instance they’ll use the money for specific items in any other way other than bettering the lives of their own children at the detriment of their conveniences.

Those specific items wouldn’t go to the kids and then when they’re still hungry you’ll be asking why we don’t open the lunch rooms

They're doing both. You must not be familiar with food stamps. Sadly, lots of them sell them for cash.

free and reduced lunch must stay open...

Yes, some of these kids would just not have food. Our community has created a drive/pick up process.

I could be wrong, but the only lunchrooms staying open is those in schools where a certain percentage of students get free lunches. I think the threshold is 50%. My wife works at our kids school and they’re not opening because they only have like 20%-30% on free lunches. She was saying something about this yesterday but I can’t remember all the details.

How is she going to do that and follow the order to quarantine in her home?

Schools are to provide meals IF they can. Teachers are not responsible for this and anyone posting so is a lying son of a bitch. People will say anything on here to sit back and laugh.

Our parish gives everyone free lunch. They’ll have free sack breakfasts and lunches for all kids

But the only distribution points are the schools

I don't disagree but you don't starve kids that didn't contribute to them being here.

I'm 100% fine with tax dollars feeding American kids in a time like this.

Because some kids who are on free lunch programs have irresponsible parents. They face the possibility of legitimate malnutrition

Had a case in our district where the kids quit coming to school. Officials went for a welfare call, and found mom naked and drugged out. The 4th grader was making mayonnaise sandwiches for the younger siblings to eat for lunch

I think how it works at my kids’ school is sack lunches are given to kids who’s lunchroom account is negative. We get a robo-call when they go negative and if we don’t reload their account they get a sack lunch.

They use to not do this but some folks were of course talking advantage of it. My wife told me about this one family with three kids who had a combined $700 owed on lunch money a couple years ago. The ironic thing is the parents bought the oldest a Mercedes for his 16th birthday that same school year.

I'm not sure why people are losing their sense of compassion in all of this.

What is it, 90% of people in America dont have 500.00 for an emergency. When those people run out of money and food what do they think will happen?

Hint

They live in urban areas, where are the hospitals you need to take Braxton?

how do these people feed their kids over the summer?

They don't you have summer feeding programs that feed them at black churches, boys and girls clubs, etc. They get SNAP benefits and don't use the benefits for their kids. They sell the cards for a reduced price monthly (then request a new card) or purchase beer and cigarettes at your local ghetto convenience store. The stores ring the purchases up as food but they're buying other items.
