Why are residents of Louisiana on this board so opposed to people visiting New Orleans?

NOLA is the one money maker LA has in terms of tourism, and the tourism industry has to be the main thing keeping New Orleans afloat! The fewer people that come, the poorer the city gets. The poorer the city gets, the further it falls from grace. Yeah, areas of the city are bad and dangerous now, but the charm of New Orleans still exists and we should be proud to preserve it and share it with tourists (for the $$$)

“Preserve” it....by letting the trash and criminal element takeover. A police force that has become woke bc of new leadership, and officers who are fearful of retribution for actually enforcing the laws....leads to nothing being preserved.

The criminals have migrated to the tourist areas, and are making victims of the tourists. How are they allowed to do this? A few weeks of the "Roving Sniper" program could cure what ails the city.

Fresh topic on the Memorial Day morning.

I’m not opposed to people visiting New Orleans. It’s not my cup of tea but have at it. But the people that go there and treat it like it’s toilet bowl are assholes.
Also, it really is a pretty shitty place in terms of leadership, people, crime, etc.

Because they don't want you to get shot, beat up, robbed, car jacked, raped, killed, murdered.
Your chances of these happening in NO are higher than any where else in the world .

They are either jealous, think it’s cool to hate something, or don’t know how to have a good time.

We are talking about New Orleans, not Baton Rouge.

NOLA after the sun goes down just isn't safe anymore... FQ use to be an area for tourists but it has gone downhill. I hang out around Mid City but even that area is bad after dark now it seems. At least not as safe

Less and less. See above.
You contradict yourself in your own post.

How about going there and then coming back and answering your own question.
The rest of us already know.

have you been to BR? You can easily find yourself getting shot in the Big Raggidy, but scents of urine, dirty and crowded streets aren't an ailment of BR. BR's problem is drugs, crime, and interstate traffic.
I love the "NOLA tourism and industry keeps the State afloat" line. I would postulate that Louisiana would prosper without all of the bad political influence that the NOLA power groups exert over state politics.
