frick NOLA...I was born & grew up there a long time ago. Today, I don't even want to enter Orleans Parish to give them a dime of my money! Once upon a time NOLA was a great city...but that was many decades ago before the 'minority' population became the majority and I think you can see the results of that today. Once they took down the statues, that told me I was no longer welcome. Today, I feel safer in most African nations that I do in NOLA!

It’s political. The right leaning part of the state wants to amplify every negative thing they hear about New Orleans because it’s a blue enclave.

It’s as simple as that.

are extremely rare. For some reason, the OT thinks tourists are getting murdered here each week.

I’m old enough to remember when this board was all about NOLA pretentiousness, with threads routinely calling it a top five city in the U.S.

Boy, things have changed around here.

I won't go to New Orleans because of fear of crime. My wife enjoys the city and we have time and money to do it.

But I don't know my way around and I don't think it would be worth the hassle.

It’s probably better that you stay in Vacherie

It happened right after Mitch went SJW (to pander to the woke mob/ national Democrats) and announced Lee's statue was coming down. The O-T has been amplifying everything negative that happens in New Orleans ever since.

It's reality.

That combined with the fact that a lot of posters grew a few years older and putting up with all of the problems New Orleans has isn't worth what it may offer in night life.

New Orleans brings in more money from Federal and state subsidies than it does tourism. Each disaster = big bucks that will be brought in for various programs and projects.

Honestly, I think it would be easy to show that New Orleans (and protecting New Orleans from floods) is a net loser for America and that it would be better if they just bulldozed all the buildings/houses and maintained a few blocks to support the port there.

According to people who don’t live here or do and feel aggrieved for being the political minority.

Yep. But there is still some of that around.

Once their egos are dinged a little, the New Orleans apologists start shitting all over the rest of the state - including but not limited to Baton Rouge. Give it a minute or two....

New Orleans people who shite on the rest of the state are no better. That’s also political.

I’m from Baton Rouge & while it’s not my favorite place in the world it’s similarly much better than people from other places like to pretend.

In particular, those on the OT. That goes for most of the state IMO.
