Why are Houston drivers such scumbags?

Driving to work this morning heading west off 610 and I get in the far left lane. Next thing I know there's a pickup riding my arse and flashing his lights at me. I'm thinking what the hell does this guy want, I didn't cut him off or anything as he was at least 30 yards behind me when I changed lanes.
Does this for about 20 seconds before getting on the shoulder and attempting to pass me, however I was following directly behind someone and he wasn't going to make it. Instead of just taking the L dude drives right into me and was ready to destroy his and my vehicle over this if I didn't move out of the way. Didn't honk or anything and just slowed down because I'm not getting shot by some pea brained moron over nothing.
I've lived here for a year and a half and experience some type of road rage like once a week. The lack of emotional intelligence is shocking.

You kind of get used to it and it's just easier to say they are idiots and let them fly by. You have to be cautiously aggressive driving Houston. I use 610 and 45 in and around downtown daily and it's just crazy with how some people speed around. I personally just get over when I'm able to. I want to get to where I'm going, but I'm not in THAT much of a hurry.

Dallas has the same a-hole drivers ride up your arse, they just won't do anything about it.
I definitely wouldn't participate in any Houston road rage.

inside lane on 610 has two modes - full send and full stop. if you dont want that smoke, stay out of that lane.

Drove Houston freeways for 15 years. If you can drive well there, you can drive anywhere. Just go with the flow, most are assholes so just be an a-hole too

Houston is the culmination of pretty much everything liberals hate about conservatives. Unchecked capitalism, middle class commuters, sprawling suburbs, heavy traffic because everyone is rushing somewhere to make money, little spent in public beautification projects, oil and gas industry, technical and business minds. The drivers are just a side effect of all of that.

If you're not going at least 10mph over the speed limit on the DNT, you'll be able to see the whites of the driver's eyes behind you in your rear view mirror.
In Austin, you can just expect people to pull out right in front of you without a care in the world or watch them suddenly cross 3 lanes to make their exit but it's okay because they put on their blinker while they were doing it.

This is why I installed (by myself you soy boys that have to pay someone to do everything) both front and rear cameras on all my vehicles.
