Went to the local McDonalds nearby, drive thru line was out to the main the road. Walked in, ordered, got my food within 3 minutes lol. I’ve noticed this with other

People are lazy and stupid Covid protocols that shut down dining rooms and ordering carry out inside is to blame. I always prefer to go inside to order but several places still are doing drive thru only. In April of 2022 that is insane. Tried to walk in a fast casual place last month and all the doors were locked. They had a to go window set up and you could order there and stand around with the other customers in a small gated area to wait on your food.

drive thur has to go in order, carry out can skip a large order and give smaller orders out to customers behind them

People ordering inside give their orders much faster than the clowns at drive thru sitting there talking to the person and still trying to decide what they want. Drive thru usually has less ppl taking orders as well

Good places like CFA make big orders pull over and wait.
The rest don't give a shite.

Start using the app to make your order; when you get there, you can decide whether to go through the drive through, park in a spot for them to bring you your food, or walk inside to get it.

They aren't. Most fast food places actually prioritize inside.

Because of people who annoy you

Then why do they have drive-thru timers?

The McDonalds in da Parish used to be very well run. However, during COVID, the local operator sold them to Valluzzo, and now, they are HORRIBLY run.
For example, the inside is STILL closed.
The drive thru has become so slow that they back up forever now.

You know when they say "pull up" or "go park over there and we will bring to you"?
They click off the timer when that happens. Makes it appear you got your food on time.
It's all a game.

So instead of spreading everyone out across the restaurant, they have everyone stand together in a small area.
Makes total sense.

The owner cared a lot and so did his right hand man.
His right hand man now works for the new owner but doesn't manage da parish stores anymore so it's trash now.

Serial is slower than parallel.
Drive thru is serial, and a single difficult order backs up everything behind it.
Inside lines are parallel.

A place like McDonald's is cooking in bulk as much as possible, which includes for the bins the inside patrons snag usually first. They can cook a dozen cheeseburgers or Royales w cheese at a time and they're all split between the lazy and not so lazy. Gotta be more patient as they're trying to keep all of you happy.

Because some people always have 5 separate checks and never have enough ketchup.

True even with the new kiosk at McDonald’s I’m in and out with a sausage biscuit in a minute, smiling at that long line, ain’t no one in there.

Accountability. It is harder to frick off when the person waiting can make eye contact with you.
