These are the people who gave us MAGA...

If everyone over 65 yrs old voted republican there would be no need for MAGA. That demographic was split 50/50 in the last election. R's win every election in a landslide if they were all MAGA.

Anxiety among young adults almost tripled between 2019 and 2023 in the U.S., with one report pointing to the rise in social media use and doomscrolling as potential reasons that anxiety has become more common across the country. Other factors at play include the COVID-19 pandemic. In an independent report titled "Breaking the Doomscrolling Cycle: Meditation as a Remedy for Anxiety in the Digital Age," Mahathi Aguvaveedi, a Columbia University alum, said the pandemic increased the amount of time young people in particular spent on their phones. In 2019, 8 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 29 had anxiety, but by 2023, that number soared to 22 percent, according to Department of Health and Human Services data cited by the report.

Doomscrolling is the term given to the compulsive consumption of negative news and content online. About 31 percent of American adults engage in doomscrolling regularly, according to a 2024 Morning Consult survey, with rates significantly higher among younger generations: at 46 percent of millennials, those born between 1981 and 1996, and 53 percent of Gen Z. A 2024 World Health Organization report also found that more than one in 10 adolescents "showed signs of problematic social media behavior, struggling to control their use and experiencing negative consequences."

Why are younger people's algorithms and brains so wired to make daily doom posts about boomers?
Facebook and OT posts about how boomers ruined the world. How boomers stole all the money and kept it for themselves. Boomer hurt my feelings. Etc., etc., etc,..........

My boomer parents talked about how their parents only talked about who they knew who died...now my boomer parents are doing the same thing...I think it has something to do with everyone you knew growing up starting to die and the realization of your own mortality coming clearer.

Death is more relatable to old folks. They treat visitations like the young kids treat bars. I swear I saw a guy try to pick up an old lady at a visitation.

Well, when your friends start to pass, it will probably be a topic.

As far as general depressing shite, I feel like the social media era dominates.

And all the rock stars and movie people dying. But your observation is correct. We know our time is limited.

Dunno but the 24 hour "news" channels have made billions off of keeping them pissed off.

CNN and Fox especially.

I don't know if its Boomer specific, but I think its mostly whoever is the most bored.

An idle mind seeks stimulation.

Boomers are just getting older, physically, so they find themselves idle a lot of times.

And unfortunately, our dumb brains crave anger and fear, it is the stimulate that drives us.

Thus Boomers seek it out at a pretty dramatic rate.

You should really practice live and let live. You do you, and I will do me.

My posts really trigger you pretty badly. It's pretty sad on your end.

The last guy here who got really triggered ended up doxing me, my widowed mother, and my business and now he is banned again after a short stint of freedom. Both times were for doxing me but the last time he threatened to slit my throat. You are starting to remind me of him. Get help and don't be a Sao.

There’s some seriously deranged dudes on this website. TigerHuskers actually driving somewhere (while drunk) to try to fight another poster seems relatively tame compared to this

You’d probably get more clicks here if you worked decreasing Social Security benefits being tied to folks with a dementia diagnosis because of illegal immigrant ex-cons now getting full Medicare benefits in California. fricking LIBS!

It’s true because I heard it from someone on TV and the only channels I watch do not spread rumors or lies (NOT MSM).
