4th largest city in America. World class everything. Tons of cool things to do. Best medical facilities in America.
Personally I don't have a problem with Houston. Has a NFL, NBA and MLB team, two FBS teams there, along with Texas Southern and Prairie View.
A nice zoo, space center, some nice museums, but something about it seems generic.
If you like it there then good for you, if not.. Then good for you as well.

One of these does not belong. I’ll give you a hint. It’s New Orleans.

Okay then, $20K, I made sure not to tell my wife who graduated from there in the mid 70's that she was wrong

Houston has all the annoyances of a big city without having anything resembling real character or personality. When someone mentions Houston what comes to mind other than muggy arse weather and strip malls?
I have a ton of family in Houston and was there over the summer. So, so grateful I did not end up spending any significant portion of my life there

I live in the Houston area and I don’t care for large cities either.
Yes, they have an ego
I can get anything I want, when I want it. Ever look for a Waygu brisket in La? How about prime beef in general?
You may not, but how many folks from La head to MD Anderson when they have cancer, or general health in general? I know of a lot that come here, and with good reason, health care in La is shite

Well you should tell her she’s wrong so you can stop telling people falsehoods.

Why all the Houston hate here?
Yeah, all you said about it is good but with no zoning, it's a wreck of a maize of shops and apartments and ghettos and run down shite. The traffic stinks and it is hot and humid for too many months out of the year. I lived there for seven years and those were the things that bothered me. You have to work through traffic to get to the airports. It also floods like hell every few years when a tropical weather system rolls in.

Rest assured our grocery stores mislabel their products too

Might want to get that checked out. I hear Houston has the best medical facilities in America.

There’s about 6 places in Lafayette to get prime beef.
And you don’t have to go to MD Anderson anymore, hospitals everywhere use their treatment plans

My point still holds that you can pay big bucks for private school in NOLA or you can send your kids to equal or better education in public school in Houston (as long as not HISD). Seriously, Deer Park and LaPorte ISD's have tons of money from property taxes on industry and industry doesn't mind as it has almost walking distance educated labor pool. My experience personally is with Spring Branch ISD. Which has overwhelming parental involvement raising money for school PTA's so they give out extra stipends over and above teacher pay and cash awards for teacher of the year and runnerup. Back then it was an extra $10K for teacher of the year for an elementary school. Almost zero teacher turnover. High SAT scores for grads of high school. One of my son's classmates whose dad was an executive transferred to Houston from NYC, moved their son to a private school. Still remaining friends there was no increase in school quality other than maybe a one or two books required for summer reading in h.s. I did like that there was a mix of socioeconomic classes from kids of execs and board members of major companies to not barely making it families.
That being said, maybe not the networking with old wealth and/or faux aristocratic social status with political connections to skim public money like in NOLA.
