Played sports, we went to the baseball quarterfinals in BR my sr season. Torrential rains forced us to play in another Stadium, wanted to play badly in Alex Box.

Kinda hung around people of all backgrounds.

My younger bro was the BMOC a few years later. He's very well known.

This is the OT - that is a minimum requirement. OT quality control will catch up to OP before long.

I swam year round with practices in the morning and afternoon mon-fri and half a day on Saturday with Church on Sundays. I missed out on being in a clique.

I had "friends" in nearly every clique, though didn't really have really close friends because I never felt like I really fit in with any of them. And that's apparent today because I only keep in close contact with 2 people I went to high school with, and I didn't really get to know them until college.

My group of close friends (4 of us) were known as being the "smart" group, we weren't "geeks" or "nerds", but were more of smartasses and kinda assholes now that I think about it

My highschool wasn't very cliquey though. I had friends who were parts of most of the groups that you listed (we didn't really have metalheads, goths, or wallflowers).

ETA: I'm still really good friends (talk daily) with 5 guys from my graduating class, oddly enough none of them were part of my "core" 4 friends that I was really close with in high school. And only 3 of my close group now were close in high school.

There was a girl who did most of my busy work for me. All I cared about was staying eligible. I never asked, she volunteered.

Low end of the jocks. Was more on the houseparty end than the star athlete end.

The years I went to Thibodaux High there were big race fights the first few days each year. Taught me to keep a low profile; and it followed me throughout my high school days.

Band Nerd I guess.

My graduating class is really unique. We didn’t really have traditional cliques. Lots of jocks in the band, cheerleaders in AP science and math, etc. We ended up having a really close group for a class of 270ish.

My ten year reunion was freaking great. Good to see a lot of people. Covid cancelled the 20th but were supposed to try again this fall.

Jr High I was socially awkward and didn’t have many real friends. Once high school started I began hanging with the popular crowd at parties some of my neighbors would host and been a social butterfly ever since. I would say I was with the popular crowd, but really mostly got along with everyone. Loved chatting with the nerds about pop culture stuff, was in the choir (baritone), in the drama club, on the golf team, and every two weeks we’d play Texas Hold Em. Kind of a Jack of all trades and master of none. Had one bully who everyone hated, but he ended up going to jail for a while getting caught with a kilo of cocaine at one point, so I guess I got the last laugh there.

Never fit into a clique. 3.9 GPA didn't go over well with the redneck baws, dirt poor family didn't go over well with the preppies. Wasn't into nerdy stuff, and I sure as hell wasn't gonna dress like a Goth just to fit in somewhere. I managed.
