It’s BS. Most of my team is on the west coast and they constantly book 5 or 6 cst meetings on Fridays.

Depends on the meeting topic.
If it's a new and urgent issue (say, you're the power company dealing with cold weather and high winds) then it's understandable.
If it's about a routine issue and attended only by people in your time zone, then scheduling the meeting on Friday afternoon before a 3-day federal holiday weekend is not a great move.

One of my teams does a fricking review every 2nd Friday at 2pm. It drives me crazy. I'm going to my deer stand early and calling in from there with a bottle of whiskey. Should be fun.

I try my damndest not to schedule anything on Fridays, especially Friday afternoons. That said, sometimes the people I need to meet with, and myself, have calendars so packed that Fridays are really the only option. If I do it, I apologize at the start of the call, keep it light as possible, and don't keep anyone longer than I absolutely need to.

Yeah, I don't prefer it.
Although, a client just asked me to meet next Friday at 2PM, and it just so happens that the night before is a highly boozy wine festival I'll be at until 10PM. I hopped on 2pm, knowing the alternative is 9AM or some shite.
