alive and well in Lakeview. Tons of kids from about 5:30-9:00. Seemed like most houses were giving out candy as well.

Well yeah some kids have always stayed out trick or treating later than official hours, but it has always been 6-8 at least in EBR

Well majority Baptist parishes did ban trick or treaters a few years ago when Halloween was on a Sunday and they moved the day to Saturday even though Halloween was on a Sunday. Livingston parish did this.

What's dead about Halloween? I'm seeing more people partying and drinking and participating wearing costumes to work and dressing super slutty this past wken/tonight? What is this shite y'all are talking about?

I remeber when there were yards and houses in the neighborhoods that had aome serious shite set up. Motherfrickers chained to steaks in the yard, running folks off with chainsaws, axes and shite. Parents teens and kids wore costumes. Hell I kinda miss those assholes with the eggs! It ain't the same. Mostly an adult attention thing now.

When I was a kid me and my friends would get together and hit every house in the 3-4 radius of my house. I would have enough candy to last til Christmas

Today I had three trick or treater's. I even had 10 dollar Starbucks gift cards mixed with candy stupid fricking kids and all their parents were with or following them and no one came by after 9. shite we didn't leave the house til 8lol

I really wanted to do a dauntes inferno theme with the different circles of hell and each one having candy in it and make a robitical Cerberus and shite I get really into that type of stuff but ticking sjws would call the police on me for scaring kids....on halloween

What's with the whole set hours thing? We'd keep going until all the lights were off. I think I remember me and my friends off on our own by about 8-9. We'd even wear rollerblades to hit houses faster.

I agree it's not the same, but I don't blame adults for coopting the night. Parents have always enjoyed the holidays. What ruined it for kids? Pedophiles. predators, nanny state types, overly protective parents and other uptight types who worry about being offended Or hurting the kids psychologically.

Trick or treating was down to a minimum when I was a kid in the 80's. All the scares about checking for poison candy kinda ruined it, and the local TV stations never failed to bring that stuff back up. Our church did a big Halloween festival for several years, so that was the focal point or we just went to houses we knew so mom could show off my costume.

If anything, trick or treating seems to be making a comeback in recent years.

Still, HOA's and NextDoor groups have been trying to control it.

For me it was the amount of grown arse adults from the other neighborhoods trick or treating for "Their children".

That is why I always had 2 bags of candy. 1 for the kids with good candy and another for the adults that came to the house. I finally had enough and just gave up 2 years ago. My kids are grown and I didn't want to deal with greedy arse adults.

Well, you have people like our neighbors across the street who I'm pretty sure don't live in the house (it had a for sale sign up for months, now it's gone, but no knew is ever there). They have lights on a timer. Constatlntly had to tell people they weren't home.
