Seriously? How difficult is it to leave your porch light on if you are passing out candy, leave it off if you are not.

Adults. Halloween/Trick-or-Treat used to be a kid's holiday until the adults took it over.
Completely agree. I was thinking the same thing tonight while sitting on the porch handing out candy. Almost every yuppy family that walked by, the parents are walking around with a big ole glass of wine.
ETA: I miss the good old days of having to have our candy x-rayed for razors and needles.

It was my first year in a new neighborhood. Two trick or treaters came by and half the houses weren't giving out candy. Most of those that did have candy just had a bowl out.

These days kids trick or treat in daylight while wearing funny or "cute" costumes. Halloween is supposed to be dark and scary.

Sounds like the last neighborhood I lived in. I happened to be off one year and didn't have other plans. We bought a huge bag of good Halloween candy to pass out.
Like you...maybe had 1 or 2 trick or treaters come by in 2 hours. I was a little bummed, was hoping to see all the different cute costumes on the kids. Was left with that massive bag of candy that totally destroyed my diet the next month

What time is trick or treating where yall live at?
Downtown businesses do it starting at three. Most residential activities start at 5. It's dark enough by then here.

Alive and well here. Have had more kids this year than the past 3-4 combined.

Yea my wife was telling me to hide the leftover candy so she doesn't eat it all.

Same here. It's about a week long series of events and parties. Most of the downtown bars are within a square block, it's a lot of fun to watch the adult activities.

Would have never been tempted if we just passed out this crap instead
Worst Halloween Candy of my childhood right there

It's alive and well here in Katy. Plenty kids. Finished early probably bc it's a Monday night.

I agree it's not the same, but I don't blame adults for coopting the night. Parents have always enjoyed the holidays. What ruined it for kids? Pedophiles. predators, nanny state types, overly protective parents and other uptight types who worry about being offended Or hurting the kids psychologically. But, if I had kids, I'd be worried about some a-hole doing something to my kid too, mentally or physically.

Even with 67% of neighborhood that flooded, we still have out a ton. Actually people who never gave out before made a point to give out this year.

My kids have way better Halloween then I did (and mine was awesome).. they do a week of events at our church, friends churches, the zoo, and then we throw a Halloween party for family and friends every year with a hayride and our neighborhood is packed! I really enjoy Halloween now as much as I did when I was little

It is the same time here (6-8), but the time changes the week after Halloween now instead of the week before.
My brother and nephew came over because my nephew wanted to "scare" other kids (he is in 7th grade) so my brother handed out candy, which is something I haven't done in years. At 6PM, it was still day light and it didn't even look like halloween, but about 15-20mins later, as the sun was setting people started flowing in..

Brother, my Baptist church was in two neighborhoods in our town and passed out 500 bottles of water 300 glow sticks and 1500 pieces of candy. Us Baptists were doing our part to make Halloween great again.

Covington/Mandeville there were hundreds of families out trick or treating in both neighborhoods we took the kids.
