Parents not letting their kids trick or treat anymore.

Guess the world is too scary thanks to the news

At a local level it probably has more to do with the flood and displaced families and displaced incomes.

No idea what you are talking about.

Kids were everywhere this year.

Where you live?

Because Halloween never came back to my neighborhood after Katrina.

Moving trick or treat to different days for different neighborhoods

Why do they do that? To try and outsmart kids from the poor neighborhoods?

As a kid I grew up in a poor area, but we still trick or treated in our neighborhood. Course...it was different back then. Pretty much every house in our neighborhood passed out candy. I could maybe understand packs of teenagers that are just going door to door wanting candy. Or people from other areas just being rude and demanding. But if it's just some young kids and a parent is taking them to a "nicer" neighborhood because they want their kid to safely be able to trick or treat....I'm not gonna get upset over that.

It's one night out of the year...just buy some extra candy, pass it out, and just be thankful you are blessed enough to live in what others consider the "nice" part of town. Those kids and parents will travel back to their poor sections of town tonight and continue to live their lives in poverty....with maybe a few more pieces of nicer Halloween candy.

Makes sense. I read something about some neighborhoods not doing it because they didn't want children potentially getting hurt walking around at night from all the debris still in the streets.

I'm not sure. I know at least 2 neighborhoods that had their trick or treating on Saturday. I think it's dumb and takes away from the holiday

(1) Teenagers, who in the past outgrew it, leaving trick-or-treating to younger kids (~<10-12); but then they realized it was free candy and grabbed a pillow case.

(2) Others (poors, ethnics, etc.) who abuse any free stuff, like for example the mints Chik-Fil-A used to have out for the taking.

Trick or treating was down in my neighborhood this year that damn hurricane that just missed us gave us some serious mosquitoes. I guess it blew them out of the woods or swamps around here. No fun walking and getting all bit up

I trick or treated my senior year in HS. Was a member of a service club (Interact)and we trick or treated for canned/boxed food items that we donated to Baton Rouge Food Bank. We got to dress up and act like children for a night, and do something positive in the process.

And many of the people that donated something from their pantries also let us have some candy as well.

This is a huge problem at my inlaws. Last year there were multiple packs of teenagers not in costumes that would just walk up literally with their hands out. frick those kids.

There were also groups of adults, not in costume, demanding candy because their kids couldn't make it out.

It's fun to give candy to the actual trick or treaters, those kids with parents that give a shite are still super excited and awesome when you hand them candy, but the packs of bussed in shite heads and the teenagers dropped off for hours in different neighborhoods without supervision ruin the fricking night.

It is odd to see all the fb posts of pics of people trick or treating with their kids.....when it's not even dark yet. Cause I've seen a few of those. I know here in the PHX area the kids trick or treat from like 6-8(when it's dark).

What time is trick or treating where yall live at?

To me...trick or treating during the day takes away from the whole Halloween experience as a child.

6-8 in BR just like always, however since they moved daylight savings time change to the first weekend in November, it is now daylight till about 7 or a little later here

Our trick or treating was from 6-8 tonight. You had to hang a pumpkin from your mailbox to show you were handing out candy...WHAT.THE.FRICK

Back in my day every Fricking house handed out candy
