Hillary killed Halloween, although it was ruled a suicide.

I don't think it was who but what. There are SO many Halloween events these days put on by organizations and churches that the actual day to ToT is no longer the pinnacle of the holiday. When I was a kid there might be a Halloween party at church but that was it until the actual night. My area had so many events the last couple of weekends that I think kids (and parents) just get burned out by the time Halloween actually rolls around.

This was by far the most people we ever had in our subdivision for Halloween. Seriously think the entire town came.

This was the best Halloween that I got to enjoy with my kids. The flood kept away a ton of outsiders. Allowed my kids to roam the streets without worrying about them getting hit with all the additional people from other areas. Ready for next year.

I got a Michael Myers mask this year and scared the shite out of a bunch of adults. Younger kids have no idea who Myers is.

Whenever I hear a "fundamentalist Baptist" talk about how evil Halloween is I always bring up the pagan origins of Easter and Christmas traditions.

There is nothing "evil" about a kid dressed as SpongeBob wanting some candy.

I do believe "trunk or treats" have spoiled kids today. My daughter got two buckets of candy at a trunk or tree this year. I told my wife I used to have to walk two blocks to get that amount of candy as a kid; whereas she just had to make a loop around the parking lot.

Its because it was on a Monday and kids had school. It really should fall on the last Saturday of October instead of any day of the week. I had to weed eat yesterday and was freaking out trying to get it finished in time. Kids were out at like 5:45

this is the correct answer to the OP FWIW.

The kids had bgs full of candy already and almost had to be talked into trick or treating last night.

So glad the free haunted house in Driftwood scared them so much. Saved me $120 at the Mortuary as well as a 3 hour wait in line.

There was a ton of it where I live. Sounds like you live in a shitty/boring area.

Full blown where we were. No fall fest for us. It was Halloween Trick or Treat as it should be.

Our son does it at the Indian Creek Campground. They put on a great deal for the kids and almost every camper decorates. It's always the Saturday before true Halloween, so many kids are basically done by that time.

ooopps Yeah it is 2016.

I can't believe I forgot that day. When the superdome set the record for the most costumes at one place ever.

Halloween was great in my neighborhood. Lots of kids having a good time, tons of houses participating, multiple haunted houses, lots of people cooking and giving out food and beer to the parents. Just an all American Halloween, and we're mostly all Baptists up here in God's Country.

Nostalgia killed it

Too many people putting Halloween, a very minor holiday, on a pedestal. "OMG Halloween is my favorite holiday, like, totes better than Christmas."

It's dumb. So when Halloween actually occurs, and it is, of course, just a minor fun holiday, people act like something is missing from it.
