Looking at the ridiculous lineup of candidates in BR is frustrating.

Then I look at the complete idiots running cities like NYC, Chicago, Portland, Atlanta and Seattle.

What common-sense individual would want to be Mayor and subject themselves to this insanity. Only deranged, desperate people may apply.

I cannot begin to imagine what the next New Orleans mayor's race will look like.

They’re mostly people who figured out it is the only way they’ll make a living

It’s really unfortunate for New Orleans because I think even Latoya supporters have grown tired of her, but I haven’t seen any real competition emerge.

I keep seeing people saying things like this.

Who, exactly, would you like to have seen run?

Other than dipshit E, the resumes aren't exactly super unusual.

What you are seeing is the natural progression of expansive democracy and why our founders opposed it.

The job is easy, getting elected in an urban city is difficult unless you are far left of center. Pretty easy to prioritize a budget based upon needs. If you encourage investment by private groups in infrastructure and protect that investment, tax dollars and jobs will follow. It’s that simple. See Kip and downtown from 2004—2016. The cities having issues today (Portland , Seattle , Minn, NYC) became great cities because of this strategy. They just decided to elect far left mayors who had political priorities that pushed a political agenda.

People that want Power, want to help city, or want to use as a stepping stone to higher office.
Power most of them want this
Help they think they can do what other could not
Higher office work your way up school board then city council , mayor, state rep, state wide office , Governor /Washington DC

Some people just want a title. They will give up stuff just to feel like they are something special.

i'll do it for 1 month

my first decree id the covid lock down is 100% over and everything is open and back to normal and frick JBE pandering arse

my second decree will be the mask order is null and void and declare anyone wearing a mask outside of a hospital or room involving a medical proceedure will be arrested for fear mongering

my third decree is the national guard and police will be out in force using water cannons and rubber bullets/bean bags to clear the streets and anyone not leaving goes to jail and stays there without bail for 2 weeks

after a month of this we are back to normal again and you can give the job back to your crook of choice with a new election

A very large majority of NOLA residents, regardless of race, political party, and income hate Latoya. When she pushes to not allow attendance at Saints games and no Mardi Gras, which she will, she is toast. I’ve seen NOLA centered social media accounts that are pretty left go in on her lately. It’ll take one person with a set of balls to step up and run against her and she’s out.

Way better than our choices last time. Compared to four years ago, I’m downright giddy.
