Democratic Wisconsin State Rep. Lee Snodgrass, of Appleton, is coming under fire for a tweet she shared Thursday morning and has since deleted.

According to screenshots being shared on Twitter, Snodgrass tweeted “If parents want to “have a say” in their child’s education, they should home school or pay for private school tuition out of their family budget.”

Democrats are showing their communist colors. They are starting to say the quite part out loud….those aren’t your children, those are the state’s children

Every parent in Wisconsin should send that bitch a message and pull their kid out of public schools immediately.

If I pay taxes and send my kids to public school, absolutely. Where I live, the largest portion of my property taxes by far is public schools.

Roth believes Snodgrass’s tweet was in response to a package of education bills he helped introduce. The legislation includes giving parents the right to determine their child’s school, religion, medical care and names and pronouns used at school. It also gives parents access to their child’s curriculum and to opt out of certain lessons.

IMO there’s a difference in “having a say” through elected board members, PTSAs, and SBDM parent representation and say a law like Indiana is trying to pass where teachers have to post their day to day lesson plans for the whole school year by June 30th (nice middle of the summer guideline BTW) for parents to review and decide what they want to opt their kids out of instructionally.

At least they're bold enough to say aloud what we've already known since the advent of public schools.

Yea thats ridiculous. Im all for parents having a say. As a teacher, if parents reach out to me im more than happy to share whatever materials they need or want to know what im teaching. That being said im not for posting my lesson plans for the entire fricking year before the school year even starts. Too much shite changes during the year for it to even be effective. If they wanted lesson plans at the top of each week id be okay with that.

If I don't want to have a say in my child's public school education, can I be exempt (get a credit) from that portion of my taxes?

can we keep our taxes locally, state, and federally if we take you up on that offer?

police, roads, fire, and ems are some social taxes most people can get behind. if i need them, they're always there. public education (which i support) is the one thing that you could never have a need for, but are forced to pay for on all levels.

they should to a certain extent.

we shouldn't hide things from kids because of beliefs. You should learn and understand scientific theories regardless of what your parents personal religious beliefs are.

I think its the educations system to make sure the curriculum is based on real sciences and facts. Dont let social debates and societal pressures creep into the classroom.

That is definitely overkill as there will be adjustments on what is covered on a day-to-day basis. How do you put this out there when you cannot possibly know when there will be weather impacted shutdowns, full class quarantines, teacher absences, class just happens to fall behind or grasps an area faster...

I can see where an overall curriculum (similar to beg of semester college syllabus) at the beginning of the school year would be beneficial. We are going to cover these sections in this order, here are the required readings for the year, my grading standards, HW & attendance expectations.... This may already be offered and my kids are just too young right now

Dems believe tax dollars are their property and not for the people. Pretty simple.
