If you count a latrine as an outhouse, sure. It’s not that uncommon if you are of the outdoorsy persuasion.

In basic training the ranges had very large outhouses with giant piles of shite under those plywood benches
And all the flies landing on your arse. Those were nasty.

Family still had some when I was young but by my teens they were all gone. Septic got installed at the last one when I was in elementary school but for some reason a couple where maintained for a few years.

As a little boy around 5, I used a legit outhouse that serviced my great grandmother's home up in the Arkansas mountains.

Does a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket count?

at our deer lease growing up the outhouse was a lawn chair with a toilet seat screwed to the frame

My southern Illinois grandparents didn't have indoor plumbing until I was around 8 years old. There wasn't another option when visiting them. It was just the way it was, not a big deal.

Both of my grandparents had one. Worst was middle of the night getting up on a freezing cold night to drop a deuce. Then had to find an appropriate page out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog……..in he dark.

yep, places I have camped, of course other times there was no outhouse, just went in the woods

I have a bizarro outhouse - it's a fully finished bathroom, shower and all, as a standalone structure a good bit away from the house.
I don't use it, but when the raft guides show up for summer, I go over there and tell them they can use it whenever they want, because those stinky frickers only have a solar shower on their property. They give me free trips and take care of my trash as thanks.

I have. My great grandparents still lived in the house my great great grandparents built when the migrated here from Czechoslovakia. They never saw the need to put a toilet in the house.

Grandparents and great grandparents had outhouses when I was a kid.

I have once while visiting friends of my parents. It smelled like a chicken coop

Thats all my Mom’s family had. My brothers and sisters all hated going to visit. Outhouses were complete with sears catalogs, unbearable stench and millions of maggots.

Not me. Had a great uncle that died in a outhouse. He's known as the uncle who died in an outhouse.

One time. :Growing up, I can barely remember it, like 3 years old. The next day my grandparents got in door plumbing. It is not a pleasant rememory.
