I'd rather live in a trailer on a lot of land than a house on a small lot

This, and today a lot of trailers are better built than houses. A trailer really is a trailer anymore. I have a friend that has a double wide and is built with 2 X 6 studs.

what other choice is there for those who cant afford to buy a house?

it beats the hell out of sleeping in a car or tent and its a lot better then paying rent.

now a question might be if you are renting why would you ever pay rent to live in a trailer

At LaTech my GF's mother moved a trailer from a lake camp so we could live together. That lasted 3 years and was 3/day the best sex! We broke 2 bedframes going at it so hard and ended up with the box springs and mattress on the floor.

Sooo, while the trailer was falling apart around us we were uncaring knowing it only had to hold together long enough to graduate. We'd drive to class in the morning watching the tub/shower water pour out the piping underneath since it wasn't skirted. The AC was too expensive to run most of the summer too.

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times...

Bought brand new modular home when I bought my first camp at Toledo Bend with 2 acres of land on the lake. Looking for double wide and dealer said they would sell me the modular for less money. Only issue was layout of living room and kitchen hurt the floor plan. Home was a lot demo sat two years on lot paid $65k and setup / delivery was $15k. They brought it in 3 pcs and put it together on concrete piers. Legally they called it a house as it was on a wood frame not metal like trailer.

Cleared land and had St Augustine grass was smooth no ruts in the lawn. Built a concrete driveway to my metal shed for boat and keep mower in.

No neighbors on one side it was timber land.. i use to watch a bobcat watch me when I sat on the back porch watching TV. Built deck 1/2 covered and screened in with hot tub. Added deck legally permitted by SRA with boat cover and lift.

It was well built home and longest I stayed in it consistently was 5 days. No complaints from me and I sold it 5yrs later for $155k with land. Got tired of going up there to cut the grass every two weeks in the summer.

The home was nice, new, and like a house wood frame, Sheetrock, Masonite doors, and I added granite counter tops.

Wife liked going up there and had a ton of sex with wife and fishing when I first retired.
It gets old quick. It was nice place.

I liked my single wide bachelor pad from 2011-2015. Some of my best memories there. Wasn’t a bad trailer park. Pretty clean and in a nice area in Broussard.

When I was around 2-4 yrs old my family lived in a trailer when my dad was stationed at Vandenberg AFB. I was too young to know that we were living a trashy lifestyle.

I'm considering a trailer now. I could afford a house but I dont want to he house poor. I'd rather live in a trailer and be able to eat out and go hunting whenever I want than have a house that I cant afford to leave for a few days. Might end up in the Felcianas

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to pay someone to cut it vs driving 8 hours round trip?

My first home when I came home from the army was a trailer. Lived in it for six years until I had enough money for my first house.

For the life of me I don’t understand why more young people just starting out and can’t yet afford a nice house don’t buy themselves a trailer instead of living with their parents until they’re well into their 20s.

I always enjoy your pretentiousness. You're like a 22-23 year old living in a crappy apartment putting down other people's lifestyle.

Off and on. Some good some not so good. They all filled a need for shelter. Own a home now and glad I don't live in a trailer.

My only issue with a trailer is the depreciation. Otherwise I don't really care. My wife and I can afford a house but I'd live in a trailer over an apartment if we couldn't.

I’d much rather live in a trailer than a damned apartment.

His experiences in life are what he reads here.

But yes, if it were a decent trailer, no doubt. I could get most of my money back out of the thing too

Exactly. Buying a trailer isn’t exactly a great investment compared to other real estate ventures. But at least when you sell it you get something back. I think they’re a great way for a young person to get started in life until they’re in a position to buy a house.
