So the Axis Powers won WWII?
Duh. That’s why they were able to keep the Antarctic bases near the ice wall.

These threads are always great. An easy system where the OT posters self-categorize.

Why did NASA destroy all the original footage?

Our monthly census of morons thread.

I heard we created an antigravity engine or some sort of infinitely repeating nuclear powered engine that got us there and we haven’t been back because we’d have to reveal the technology man. They have a way to stop the reliance on fossil fuels but the corporations buried it all man. That’s the deal.

same government who arrested you if you left your house for an entire year
I will bet you a $1000 that no one was arrested in the US for leaving their home during the COVID fiasco. There were arrests made when people failed to disperse when told to do so, when they were "trespassing" on public property that was closed due to COVID mania and similar incidents but I will promise you no one walked out their front door, left their property and was arrested for that alone. They may have been charged with disobeying stay at home orders in conjunction with other charges but no one was arrested simply for leaving their home. It was plenty asinine on its own merits, making out like it was more than it was distracts from how stupid it actually was.

Lack of decent archival practices. NASA was only ~20 years old around the time when the footage would have been erased. Their focus on the future was at an almost autistic level with almost no thought of preserving things stashed away in boxes, especially when those things could be reused (see: tapes).

I believe in the moon landing. My grandpa worked for NASA and the Saturn program. Be developed the material used in the panels of Skylab. He was on a picture with Von Braun that used to hang up at Huntsville. I'm not a science denier. I was just saying people were using that post as "gotcha".

Smart enough to go to the moon. Not smart enough to archive

Space may be the final frontier but it’s made in a Hollywood basement.

Buzz Aldrin is like 100 years old now, the last surviving Apollo 11 crew member. If he tries to punch me in the face for saying something negative about NASA, I think I could take him on.
