i'm in the market for one as well.

is this something that insurance normally covers?

average cost?

I had two doctors recommended to me. one family doctor, one urologist. Not sure which would be better to go to?

Quick, easy, and pretty much painless. Listen to the drs and lay around all weekend. Free pass to watch football all weekend without having to do any honey dos.
Ice your sack and keep it numb all weekend. Won't have any pain at all if you do.

This. They keep the procedure room very cold. Cold plus fear=major shrinkage. Very disappointing in my case, given the hot red headed nurse assisting.

Other than that, Doc said "big stick" injecting the local (commended him for not saying "little prick"), after that, felt very little. Did it on a Friday during football season, did the peas in the recliner all weekend, back to work on Monday, no after effects. Clearing out the pipes is definitely a nice bonus if you've got help.

Do NOT think it's all good and overdo it over the weekend. Had a friend that did, and all he would say is that having balls the size of grapefruit isn't as awesome as it sounds like it would be. He couldn't wear anything but sweats and scrubs for several weeks, and had to walk like a cowboy with a fat horse.

My insurance covered it

I think I paid 50 bucks in total

They know the procedure is much cheaper to pay for than another kid or two

Mine was covered by my insurance. All I had to pay was a $30 co-pay (my co-pay is $40 now) for a Dr. Office visit since I had done in office and I was not put to sleep.

One side was painless. The other side, I felt him manipulating and tugging the vas. It felt like someone had just bungee jumped from my balls and then a mule came by and kicked that nut. That one side was painful, but the pain came and went quickly.

There was no additional swelling due to the pain.

I should tell you I for some reason have a resistance to pain killers. They don't work so well on me.

I advise wearing a jock strap the first week or so. Keep the boys up close and tight. And peas.

The best part is you can go deep with your loads after a couple of weeks and have no cares.

I was looking into this and spooked myself by finding a study that linked vasectomy to a type of dementia.

Not aware of dementia, but studies show vasectomies drastically increases the risk of prostate cancer.

Anxiety over the snipping and odor of the cauterizing will be memorable. Then icy balls for an entire day. You will feel fine but fight the urge to move around too much too soon.

I had mine done three years ago and was the best damn thing I ever did. I am not going to lie it was a bit uncomfortable getting the procedure done but the IV valium definitely helps when you have two dude fondling your junk I did get some pain from one of the electrodes but a little more local and it was all good. Recovery took a week or so and the first couple of nuts were a little sore to bust. I will say this though not having to worry about pregnancy is fantastic

Very painful during procedure on one side. Dr was asking me if it hurt as if he didnt believe me. I started cussing at him after the first cauterization I felt the shock all the way. Felt like he was pulling me out with a warn winch

Had mine this summer...not painful during the procedure, just pressure, etc... My issue came days after. I never hurt enough to feel like I needed to ice them, just sore. Hurt to move junk around to take a piss kind of sore. I tried to explain to my wife that it wasn't excrutiating, but if I woke up one morning and my balls hurt like that for no reason, I'd RUN to the hospital sure I had testicular cancer...but since I knew what had caused it, I'd manage.

That lasted a full two weeks and when I went back for the first follow up the doc suggested I might have had a bit of an infection (there was some swelling near one of my boys) so I did a three week run of some antibiotic. That either did the trick or I simply needed the extra recovery time.

All that being said, it's now been about three months and it's essentially fine. Suture location has a tiny scar which can hurt a bit of it gets roughed up, but other than than...play ball.

Ok, so where can I go in Baton Rouge that will give me Valium before and put me to sleep?
I want both.

I'm not risking a nightmarish experience. F that.

I've seen studies both confirming and debunking the prostate cancer risk and lower testosterone.

But, my own paranoia over both of these has kept me away

Same thing here. shite was sore and sensitive and I was scared it would never go away. Had some swelling in my sack around the tubes but didn't go in to have it looked at. It subsided.

This too. they used dissolvable stitches and mine dissolved within the first 3 days. Had a nasty looking hole develop that I treated like I would any other open wound. mainly just tried to keep it dry. Had the doctor look at it and he wasn't alarmed and told me some people just dissolve them faster. Having a scar doesn't really bother me. ball sacks aren't winning beauty contest anyways

That's as absurd as linking root canals to cancer.

Not much pain. Do what the Dr says to do. Drill for fun after a dozen clean out jerks.
