My brother said he still gets occasional shooting pains from it, and he had it done like 10 years ago. Hopefully he has just fricking with me, or his procedure was botched.

I had it done on a Friday afternoon with only a local anesthesic. It was nothing. Drove home with a Big Gulp filled with ice between my legs and worked all weekend with a cup of ice between my legs. I hate peas and even the frozen ones after a while start to smell like peas.
Now it's fire and forget.

Pick a weekend with a good sports event going on. Get some good compression shorts to hold your juck tight. Your going to be wrapped up like a mummy when you come out. Save the prescription drugs for later!
Have fun bringing that brown paper bag into the waiting room a few weeks later so they can test for swimmers!

Had one 3-4 weeks ago. No pain. Was sore for 3-4 days after. I didn't ice after. Just chilled and watched TV. No problems.

I plan on getting one next year and I'm actually looking at a doctor in Destin so I can chill at the beach house for a long weekend in the fall to watch some games. He said a lot of people do it like that depending on insurance.

I did it, and for whatever reason, the local did not work on me. I felt everything and got physically ill from the pain. They opted to stop the procedure and reroute me to a surgical center to put me under for the remainder of the procedure.
It went about as bad a something like that could go, but even still it wasn't all that bad, really.
End result makes zero difference in performance or feel.

I went in for my consultation then chickened out and didn't schedule the procedure for 3 years. Had to do the consultation again and just bit the bullet and scheduled the procedure before I left the clinic. That way I couldn't back out.
Procedure wasn't bad thankfully for the Valium. I Have severe anxiety but I didn't give a frick once I got in there. The doctor has a room with all Ole Miss shite on the wall. He's sticking my nuts and I'm cracking jokes about him adding insult to injury with the ole miss decorations. I did feel a little more discomfort on one side than the other but not like some I've talked to that said it felt like they were pulling their nuts out their neck. Don't let your balls swing for a while. I went with whitey tighties for a while and frozen peas for a few days. Riding a 4wheeler 3 days after was a bad idea but really just felt like blue balls. The tubes they cut are sore for a few weeks but that's the worst of it.

I'm in Houston and was looking around for a urologist but none of these frickers here seem to give painkillers. I swear, frick them if I'm just gonna get a Tylenol and a bag of frozen peas. I sure ain't getting snipped just for pain killers but at least they'd make it worthwhile.

...so you didn't trust your wife when she said she wasn't cheating on you?? Must be kinda awkward now, you know, with you not trusting her and the DNA test and all?
OK, I have to ask, if I get a vasectomy, am certified as shooting blanks, and then a few years later my wife informs me she is pregnant, what exactly should I be thinking?

Some old mother frickers in this thread, talking about vasectomies. Yeah, I'm getting one soon myself and have almost cried laughing at some of these responses.

Had it done 20 years ago. Don't remember any discomfort with it.
What I do remember is laying on the table with just the blue smock on me. The doctor and the doctor's assistant who I'm seeing for the first time comes into the room.
This assistant is like stunningly beautiful, like Miss Goodbody from HeeHaw.
They both walk up to me and pull the smock back as I'm still adjusting to the unexpected sight of one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen staring at my junk.
It starts to move.
I didn't feel any pain during the procedure but it could have been due to all my focus being placed on remaining limber.

Damn man...my wife keeps telling me to go get it done after having our 3rd recently but stories like this aren't helping with my motivation.

I was looking into this and spooked myself by finding a study that linked vasectomy to a type of dementia.
Some guy had this rare form of dementia and realized like 8 of the 9 guys in his support group had vasectomies.
The study showed guys that had the procedure were twice as likely to develop this type of dementia.
Nothing conclusive but larger studies are in the works.
I passed for now.
