I have white coat syndrome. Was 150s/90 at my last coast guard physical. Was issued medical certificate with this reading. No meds. I can test at home and 120's/80's regularly. FAA and USCG must use similar standards. Also this is an international medical certificate so not just USA approved

Also use an app on my phone to check it which is consistent with the cuff machine I have.

It is the icare health monitor

I went to the doctor last week. It's crazy how inaccurate the machines can be. I had my blood pressure at something like 155/95 which seemed crazy high. I told the doctor that it seemed strange, and he instantly said he didn't trust the machines. He had a nurse measure it with the old fashioned device and I got 119/81 and 119/80 for the two readings, which made much more sense. He said the machines often give weird readings (also had my pulse in the 90s when the two hand readings were mid 60s and low 70s).

Did you retake it with the machine after they measured it? Did you sit calmly for 5 minutes before taking it? Your BP can vary 20 points just with ordinary activity, and it's important to take it the same way every time. Moreover, it's not uncommon for the first measurement to be high. The pulse discrepancy is particularly questionable.

Same here, at home it is generally in the 120-130 over 70-80, that's with no meds, never had under 150 in a doctors office.

I’m 27 and was just put on the beta blocker toprol xl. Went to the ER with heart symptoms and had a 180/110 BP. Got every test you could imagine, heart was fine, cholesterol was fine. Said it might be stress induced. Who knows. Previously I was 120/80 and without medicine I’m resting in the 150/90 range. Don’t smoke, eat fairly healthy, don’t drink.

No

Yes, I was seated for 5 minutes or so before the machine and personal reads.

Out of curiosity I have taken my pulse about 10 times the past week and have been between 65 and 75 each time at home. Don't have a blood pressure machine though.

I was 214/125 around thanksgiving when I went to urgent care with the flu. Dr made me promise to find a primary care physician and follow up on it. I have an appt in three weeks. Not looking forward to it.

Dammit. That's probably what I need but I hate beets. My great grandma was from Czechoslovkia and cooked that shite ALL THE TIME, and she did live to be 95. So in the summers while my friends were fricking off and eating McDonald's, I got to do farmwork and eat fricking borscht.

Mine was 126/72 when I went to the doc yesterday for cortisone shot.

I took propanalol as a migraine prophylactic years ago. They had to take me off it because I don’t have high blood pressure and it would make me light headed and weak on standing.

Why is it POGs are more likely to get hurt and go to medical?

Because we work for a living unlike grunts sitting in the barracks playing call of duty.

Someone's gotta have the "tough guy" grunts back and put in work.

Grunts might be at the tip of the spear, but they wouldn't be there without pog support.

Mine was 160/102 last fall and I was feeling off and went to Doctor. Now, I think that was a bit of an aberration since I had had it measured twice two weeks previously and it was about 140/90 when donating blood. Doctor recommended South Beach diet. I didn't go full blown south beach, but I did cut out most carbs. Blood pressure dropped to 120s/70s. Usually. Spikes in the evenings to 140 something over 80-90 sometimes, but then is good in the morning. Had the nurse at work check it manually to compare to my machine and th machine was pretty close. Mine seems to cycle a bit.

Cut the carbs. Eat meat and veggies.

I had my colon removed due to cancer risk 6 yeara ago. The largest contributing factor to my blood pressure is dehydration. It'll swing it like a mother fricker.

Drink lots of fluids for 3 days and then recheck. You should see my spreadsheet I keep. Its so erratic based on my workload and hydration level.
