Had my 14 yo leave a door partially open yesterday

Took till after midnight to get down to 72 in main part of house. Bedrooms were comfy

It’s ridiculous. I am turning off lights and electronics all day. That little heat they produce is adding to the problem of 106 outside.

The temp here broke 100 noonish, and never looked back.

My A/C is running continually and can't get the house below 75. Thermostat is set at 72.

Maybe you should give it a break and set it to 76

Just checked and the temp inside is down to 74. I think I will give the old girl a break-- the A/C, not the wife.

74 inside currently. Thermostat is set to 71. Not bad for these temps.

Your analysis is correct. It's not sized for my house in these extremes. Normally it can freeze the place.

Call your electric company and see if they’ll do an energy audit, I did that and got a bunch of free stuff including some extra attic insulation installed.

Are you saying Cleco will give me free stuff?

The good news is there’s only about 12 more days of these hight temps. Low to mid 90’s enter the picture then and temps trend down after that.

I'm just hoping Entergy and others can keep up with the demand.

You should consider a couple window units and a fan or two.
Or, get a mini-split AC, aka, a ductless AC, for the bedrooms at night.

We have 2 of them and they keep the temp at around 66 degrees at night in the rooms where they are and we put the central AC thermostat on 77 at night.

They draw a little more than 1/3 of the amps as the central AC (suck it, Entergy!!) and they are very quiet.

The compressor is outside so all you hear inside the room is just a fan blowing.

It could be worse. Your electric company could send you a bill for $420 when you don’t even have a meter on your house

I just checked the sensor on the app

80, set at 75

Poor old girl just can't compete with the heat. Does her best but I've got garbage insulation and crappy windows

I mean, with the heat this intense outside, it's not going to do much anyway. If it drops to 75 you can always set it lower

Just looked at their website and they do free energy audits.
