We’ve nearly stopped eating out.
4 hamburgers, 4 PBR’s @ The Blind Tiger in Madisonville. $98. I told the waitress there was absolutely no way I was going to pay $100 for that. Settled on $80. 3 days later they were out of business in that location.
It’s just not even fun anymore.
Started cooking all sorts of different styles of food. Now I just complain about grocery store prices. . .

I’m sorry, am I reading this correctly in that you ordered food and drink from what I can only assume was a simple, clearly marked menu, and then refused to pay your tab?

We have a group of friends and we usually go out to eat a few times a month, well 2 of the ladies aren’t speaking (crazy I know) so we haven’t gone out in a month or so.
It’s been a good break. I’m glad my wife has avoided the drama.
I don’t understand why ladies can’t just get along

Restaurants are one of the biggest scams out there. Its nice to not cook and eat out once in a while, but regardless of what they advertise, youre mostly eating Food Service grade products. Even the upscale places.

My wife and I eat out a LOT - maybe three times a week together, and twice a week separate with friends. Neither of us are fat, and while there are a lot of overweight people in restaurants, there are also a lot of folks who are not.

you say you're going to "hotspots" but it sounds like your SO just likes "fine dining" and making you spend money.

We have eaten in a restaurant maybe twice since covid. We still eat out, but get takeout and take it home. Avoid drink charges, idiots, and higher tips, so win/win/win.
For me, dining out is as much about the social aspect than it is about the food. And don't get me wrong, I love good food.

We don't go out as much but it's because we moved to Fort Myers. Food just isn't as good. We go out 1-2 times a week at most but usually 0

I can cook to my taste way better than the dudes they pull out of the halfway house stuck in the back working for $15 an hour.

Jesus H. Christ, I’m embarrassed on your behalf after reading that.

We don't have very many dash/ubereats here but I will pop into the restaurant at the gas station and get chicken tenders/red beans and rice/burger from the grill and get homemade biscuits for the next morning also. That is pretty much the extent of takeout except for football weekends when we do takeout Mexican because there are many games on and we don't feel like cooking.

Pay the bill and never go back if you felt it was a poor value for the money.

I can't imagine being that waitress. Being paid to babysit adults that can't understand simple social courtesy.
ETA: I also think the story is 100% bullshite but I digress

It's harder and harder to find a quality woman and blessed to have mine, she's as money focused as I am. We have 5 kids, and if we could afford it we would have more but were focused on providing. That means we're not spending money on expensive food when we both cook well. We went out for our anniversary and thats it. Still had to talk her into going somewhere expensive instead of Texas roadhouse.
If it weren't for bidenomics, maybe we'd be living differently but unfortunately, we're the punished generation of America. I hope things get better for our kids when they're adults.
