Did you see what local mafia politicians he surrounded himself with in Grand Isle? There was a reason he survived in that coastal enclave.

As in?

And if you want to read a good book and watch a good movie try Black Mass. Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger-great movie

I'll try that one.

I see that is written by Kevin Weeks one of his partners. He's back on the streets of Boston now.

Bulger had been moved from a Florida prison to one in Oklahoma in the past week. No reason was given for the moves or the latest transfer to Hazelton, one of the federal system's roughest prisons with more than 1,200 inmates.

Sounds like they were just bouncing him around from shithole to shithole until somebody finally got the hint.

Wow.
Random inmate or a hit?
What a poetic ending for Whitey.
Died as he lived. Violently and with no regard for others.

At 89 with his health deteriorating and death appeared imminent somebody may have bumped into him causing him to fall and die.

In some instances it's a form of punishment for problem inmates. Never settling in, never getting used to the routine, never have your stuff with you, always the new guy. It's called "doing diesel time." In Bulger's case they may have been trying to prevent him from being whacked.

Has there been confirmation that he's actually dead?

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has confirmed he's currently approaching room temperature and the FBI is investigating, so they're apparently not so sure it was natural causes.
