A white professor at historically black Tuskegee University says he’s suing the school, claiming he’s been denied the salary he deserves because of discrimination.
The Montgomery Advertiser reports physics professor Marshall Burns held a press conference Tuesday. He said he hasn't considered leaving Tuskegee because he loves teaching students.

He says he gets an associate professor's salary despite being a full professor since 1980 and asking for a raise at least 12 times. His lawsuit claims age and race discrimination.
Burns, who earned his PhD. in 1972, said he’s paid $60,500 while younger full professors make between $78,000 and $90,000. He says the denial of a full professor’s salary has cost him $400,000 over his career. The Advertiser says the university didn’t respond to its request for comment.

Sounds like my whiny FIL, who also had a government job.
"I haven't had a raise in 20 years."
"So, you make exactly the same as you did 20 years ago?!?"
"Well, I do get 3-5% COLAs every year"

Eh, under Obama it was 1% every 2-3 years.

Maybe they didn't give him a raise because he's an idiot. There's only roughly 4300 other universities in the US.
How far away is the closest one? Alabama State in Montgomery is only a 40 minute drive.

Tuskegee is a private university

Well, this is the second "reverse-discrimination" case I've read about in as many days. This and the principal in Michigan should be interesting to follow.

Reminds me of the episode of The Office when Daryl was looking for a raise and was asking more than what Michael Scott makes, which he didn't know until Michael Scott showed him his check....

Maybe, That doesn’t say much for the administration to employ an idiot for at least 39 years though. A guy that’s undoubtedly gotten 39 performance reviews.
What it sounds more like is that they’re taking advantage of the tenured guy. They can’t attract new professors on at a shitty salary, this guy obviously loves the university, and they’re using that against him.

the Tuskegee Airmen was a decent movie. IT told a story of a group of black people that climbed to high heights without shoving "muh white people racist" down your throat.

Then that's his fault. If he didn't get a raise when he was promoted to Full, and he let that slide, that's on him.
Academia is like anything else. If you feel you're not being fairly compensated, seek employment elsewhere. At the very least you have a number to take to your current employer for fair market value.
