They should settle now, keep it out the courts. Give the man his 400k. Even if he isn't a good professor and you couldn't get rid of him because he was tenured. He's going to win that one even as an example. They will pay a lot more later if they don't settle now.

So this dude was making $60,500 in 1980? Sounds like he was probably overpaid for the first 10 or 15 years of his career. Can we just call it a wash?

That’s the hardest part of this to believe. An associate professor making $60k pre 1980 (he was promoted to Full in 1980 and didn’t receive his raise) seems a little far fetched.
