I went to a customer's house in Harahan once and his stepping stones in his back yard were all NOLA water meter covers. I mentioned I liked them and asked where I could buy them. He just replied "I picked them up in front of empty houses after Katrina.

They get stolen all the time. They have the crescent moon in them and the Sewarage and Water Board on them. Nice keepsake if you can get away with it. They go back to somewhere around the 1920's.
