quote:Remember this like it was yesterday. Was in my last semester at LSU, working that Saturday at the Tandy Biz Products computer store on Fla Blvd. We watched the snow fall, was super slow, closed early. My buddy/co-worker had his grandma's Bonneville (like below) in the parking lot. Drove the Bonny to a convenience store and grabbed beer....put the 12 pack on the roof, encased it w snow, then commenced on a slip and sliding tour of all the empty parking lots in BTR. Good times.

• A freak winter storm brought 2 inches of snow, surprising residents and creating disruptions.

Driving back from the game (02 sugar bowl) the snow line was about Sorrento or so. Lived in Port Allen and tried to take the new bridge but it was iced. BRPD hadn't blocked access yet. Drove back down the west bound side to surface Street and took the old bridge. Wasn't sure I was going to make the flyover from 110 to old bridge. It was a little sketchy as well.

I was in PE class at Istrouma Middle when it started snowing in 1988. I remember getting checked out early and playing in the snow as a 12 year old.
The 2008 one is the first one my oldest daughter remembers. She was 5 at the time. My youngest was only 2 and doesn't remember that.
The one in 2017 was great because both of my girls had a blast in it and we ended up going to Highland Road park to "sled" down the hills.

I remember the "FREEZE" of 1981. Remember it so well it could have actually been 1982 thou.
I remember doing firefighter training and the water would freeze up in a matter or mins. Everything was freezing up all over.

Graduated from LSU a couple days before. My mom said that if LSU would ever give me a diploma, it would probably snow.
Sure enough, she was right.

• Around 3–4 inches of snow fell across Baton Rouge. This event marked the most significant snowfall in decades.
The school buses picked the kids up in the neighborhood at 6:15am then came back and dropped them off 2 hours later. What a clusterfrick.

• Baton Rouge saw around 1–2 inches of snow. It was part of a larger Gulf Coast winter weather event.

Did it snow the night before LSU played ILL in the Sugar Bowl? NYE 2001. Some reason I remember it being extremely cold both the night before and the day and night of the game.

1988 because it is the first significant snow i remember. Got to build a snowman with my brothers. Have a vhs tape of that day that always brings back great memories. So if you have kids let them get out a bit and enjoy the rare event. They will never forget it.

Remember this one... was in elementary school (moved to Houston that summer) and made a big arse snowman that lasted for a week or so.
There was another one 2014-2015 range that might have been more ice than snow, but shut down elevated I-10 for a few days

Feb 73 snow event
I was 5 years old and this was the first time I had ever seen snow. I remember building a small snowman with my dad on the hood of our 63 Impala.
Dec 89
No one who lives in BR will forget this cold snap. The LSU lakes froze and the ExxonMobil refinery had a massive explosion and fire. My dad worked at the refinery and was at the refinery on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

Having a major snow event for the area during finals was pretty fun.

I seem to recall another one in the early 2000s, no?
