Which of you OT-Poors is dying Easter potatoes instead of Easter eggs?

Skip the expensive price of eggs this year and try Dyed Potatoes for Easter Eggs instead! With just two ingredients and minimal prep, having potatoes instead of eggs for Easter means buying fewer expensive eggs and having lots of fun with the whole family painting potatoes.

With inflation on the rise, I've found myself second-guessing plans and purchases that I'd normally not even question. Recently, I was positive I was being punked seeing a carton of a dozen large eggs clock in at around $8. They weren't even organic, extra large, or specially farmed. Just your run-of-the-mill, generic eggs from a grocery store chain.
I'm not alone in the sticker shock—parents across the country are feeling pressured by rising costs. At first, I laughed at suggestions on social media that perhaps it would be cheaper to decorate and hide potatoes instead of eggs on Easter. Then a few friends confessed they were going that route, feeling too guilty spending almost triple what they normally would on Easter eggs that wouldn't even be eaten. As long as their kids had something "egg-shaped" to decorate and hunt for, they wouldn't even notice.

Seems like a waste of a potato

I'm OT poor and will be using my grocery store's pay in 4 for my eggs this year

The whole mixing in a raw potato gag and cracking it on the kids' heads will hit different this year too

Meanwhile, this report out of College Station:

Killing them potatoes seems more fun than dyeing eggs.

I actually like the idea. We don't eat that many boiled eggs so I always end up throwing away at least a dozen. I would actually eat the potatoes. It's a bit too weird and untraditional for me to actually do, though.

I am Irish, who has Easter eggs? WASP's?
Are you telling me the Irish Easter Lass with the harp was a myth?

Next thing you will one telling me is the Easter Guinness was alcohol free.
Nothing like dyed cabbage, Easter potatoes from the hunt, and a slab of corned beef for Easter dinner.

Don't even have to paint mine and I've got plenty!

We’re just going to paint our hands, ball them up into fists and pretend we found eggs.

But you're in Baton Rouge, there are no rocks within 100 miles that don't have to be imported.

Why not just get plastic eggs?
