I earn 4 times as much as the highest state and have several millions in equity and live in Louisiana. So where you live doesn’t mean a whole lot

I don't know if I'd consider someone in their mid 40's as a young household if that also includes people as young as 25 . Looking at 25-35 or so maybe would make much more sense.

There is, or at least there should be, a huge difference in a 25 year old just getting started in their career, than someone who’s in their mid-40s and has been in their career since the 25 year old was still playing with action figures and learning to read.

I think some of you misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn’t saying the 25 year old is still playing with action figures at 25. I was saying the 44 year old started his career roughly 20 years before the 25 year old did…

25-20=5

And I think 5 years old is a pretty normal age for kids to play with action figures.

Why that obviously true statement triggers some is beyond me.

The trick is to live in Louisiana and work for a company in a HCOL city

The trick for MS is not to live in the Delta.

My wages in CA is probably double if not more than they would be back in Louisiana.

I have lived in Bay Area.

Housing!!!, SIT and “hidden” taxes (in fuel prices, car inspection for examples) and lifestyle, but lifestyle is part of why you live in CA.

Great experience there! However, raising kids in CA came with a “tax” of other sorts we chose to avoid (materialism, politics, family, etc).

I get paid almost double in Houston for the same job I had in Lafayette. My COL is about $1500 more per month (higher mortgage along with property taxes). More than makes up for it, just have to deal with a lot more traffic but I'm only 8 miles from my home office and I can work from home one day a week.

Wife also makes about $1700 more per month than she did in Lafayette as a teacher with a similar role.

I'll bet you are an investment expert and sexy guy despite your beer belly and poor attempt at replicating Burt Reynolds and his mustache

Mississippi's GDP per capita is slightly higher than Germany's.

And this isn't a "Germans" post. That's an actual fact.

Germany $65,303

Mississippi $66,000

Canada's GDP per capita is only $60,305. Canada used to be on par with the USA, but now America's worst performing state is surpassing them.

England is about $61,000 - only slightly higher than Canada and below Mississippi.
