If I go out my front door, I get traffic noise. Out the back door, there's usually birdies.

Do roosters count? Closest non-family neighbor is a half mile away, but I'd swear their new rooster sounds like he's on my porch.

Other than that, we'll hear the occasional 4x4 on the highway as well as gravel trucks on weekdays. Evenings will get some 2 cycle dirt bikes and another round of rooster.

Anyone have a taste for fresh chicken and dumplings?

On weekdays, very faint roar of traffic a couple miles away.

On weekends? Sometimes I walk outside and, at certain times of the year, hear nothing. Usually insects.

This is going to sound like I’m bragging. But w have worked and sacrificed a lot and there are tradeoffs: I hear a waterfall (it’s more like large shoals— on the S Saluda River Upstate SC), birds and wind through the trees. No moose calls.

Ironically at our house in Montana we hear some cars and a train horn (that’s far enough to be enjoyable though). Do hear elk bugling every now and then when they migrate onto Mt Jumbo. Magpies crying.
