I don’t know but I wish more safe areas were available. The limited safe areas is helping to drive up the cost of homes. I noticed over the weekend that home prices in some neighborhoods jumped from $220 sqft in 2021 to $320 sqft this year.

I can't even imagine Baton Rouge in 10 years. At that point, I'll have just 2 years left until me and the wife are getting the frick out of here.

We started a running clock around when our youngest turned 3 or 4. He turns eighteen in 12 years.

All of the kids have been informed that any college in Louisiana is absolutely out of the question.

I'd guess that both BR and NOLA will be almost like a Mad Max-style hellscape around then. We'll probably be leaving town in a stripped-to-the-frame Pursuit Special like the rest of the Road Warriors still left here.

Tell me you don’t live in the area without telling me you don’t live in the area.

The Gardere issues typically stay in the Gardere area. The neighborhoods mentioned are quite safe. For now anyway.

Meh. These areas control their own law enforcement. They've got a long road ahead of them.

I'm going to be really pissed if the Baton Rouge sprawl goes all the way out there.

Covington, Madisonville, & Mandeville - Despite everyone responding with "we're full" growth is inevitable in St. Tammany Parish.

If I had to honestly guess....I would say West Baton Rouge is next up, but that will require the new bridge to be built. For now it's somewhat isolated from both of those things you mentioned.

But holy hell traffic is terrible crossing the river on I-10.

Ascension was the second fastest growing parish according to the last census and has increased at higher rate than any parish since 2000.

It's unlikely that trend will end anytime soon.

With all the attention the Idaho/Oregon border story is getting, it makes me wonder. If it succeeds, will Louisiana's western border ever be moved and some of it absorbed into Texas? A lot of those western parishes already pretend like they're in Texas anyway.

The 'we're full' sentiment always comes from Mandeville, Madisonville and Covington. There is a ton of land for growth further north, which is where I believe many people will go with flood insurance rates.

Also, notice how people usually say 'we're full' right after they move in.

If Texas were to absorb Lake Charles, that would be checkmate on the Louisiana economy.

Or b/c they do not have anything else to say. It's a pretty stupid remark by the way.

Lots of land for sale in Ethel. That's where I'd be if I didn't have young kids.

Sad to say but no where in LA is safe long term. Every issue facing any place in LA will eventually happen to all places in LA.

That's why I don't understand the finger pointing in LA at other towns/cities. There is no place like the Mississippi coast etc where anyone will want to be in LA for any reason.
