Only remember the specifics of two of these, 9/11 and Katrina.

9/11-just entered into my second week of boot camp in New Jersey. Did not have cable on the base so we watched vhs recordings the next few days/week. It was about the most surreal shite I’ve ever been a part of or seen. The entire atmosphere of the base switched immediately

Katrina-sitting in the middle of the bitch in Gulfport. Just got stationed back home in July, and stayed for her. The following days were even more surreal going through the towns and the aftermath.

Most of those are not that memorable to me. But I am old and recall being in school when Kennedy was shot. Called in from cutting grass for the moon landing and driving to courthouse when I heard on WJBO a plane had hit a tower in New York on 9/11. For my parents Pearl Harbor was a date everyone recalled.

2001: 9/11

My roommate who just smoked a lot of weed and slept till 12 everyday actually woke me up to tell me. Apt at LSU. Tiger plaza in tiger land I think it was called or something like that. Right by railroad tracks on Nicholson. I only stayed in BR 3 nights a week.

In saint Augustine at PT school while rest of family had evacuated NOLA. Easily the most helpless and guilty I’ve ever felt in my life.

Had just driven back to NOLA from voting in St Augustine. Was working a traveling contract(didn’t vote for Obama)

2011: Bin Laden announced as deceased

On couch in my wife and I’s condo.

I remember this one well. I had skipped school and came back into the house to go back to sleep after my mom left for work. The sirens on the news woke me up.

Well considering I was 8 when the 90s ended not a lot from there, I do remember Y2K and my dad bitching about Clinton.

The rest I remember fairly well
