Back when we lived in OM, our street got repaved for what I felt was basically no reason Our pumps work too.

I have no idea why anyone would choose Lakeview over Old Metairie other than wanting a NOLA address.

The difference between Lakeview and old metairie is twofold

I live in Lakeview and do not see the attraction at all...

Lakeview has all of the problems of New Orleans and none of the benefits..

absurd taxes, crime, no schools, flooding, piss poor policing, awful roads and infrastructure, etc... yet I can't walk to the parades and it's a $45 uber during mardi gras..

It's suburban life without any of the benefits of suburbia..

I live right on the Prytania business corridor. I've lived at my place for three years and the only thing of note crime wise was the shoot out that involved two guys from Baltimore trying to rob the CVS.

It's a great place to live. I can walk in less than two minutes to two bakeries, a grocery store, two gyms, a neighborhood bar, dry cleaners, library, pharmacy, three bank branches, ice cream shop, yogurt shop, a wine store, a yoga studio, pharmacy and four pretty damn good restaurants. My truck doesn't move some weekends.

Exactly, and a couple of breweries if you want. But muh crime all over!

I know 2 people that were carjacked in NO in the last month. Don't let your kid move there right now, man.

Lakeview has always perplexed ne for that reason.

If I could afford a 3500 square foot house in the most desirable uptown neighborhoods near audubon, I would have bought there pre-latoya. Now I am happy to stay in Old Metairie. One day maybe I can upgrade to the rich side of the OM (Farnham)

Bingo...you hit the nail on the head. Cross that line and move to the OM.

I came to the same conclusion when I lived in Lakeview

It's not convenient to anything and it's not as plush as suburbia by any stretch

Yeh..thats a great area of Uptown. We looked behind st James at a couple houses. There just seemed to be a massive price jump when you get over 3000 square feet in Uptown or it was a fixer upper or it was on a questionable block.

Lakeview is the only part of Orleans Parish that’s both ‘nice’ and ‘safe’.

Been living here for 20 years, aside from the 12 months after Katrina.

That being said, I’m looking to move to Mandeville soon. Sick of all the New Orleans bullshite.

If you have to live in OP, it’s Lakeview.

Lakeview is good. Old Metairie is better.

I like mid-city personally, but im a dude. I can walk around at night or ride my bike to the grocery and not worry about someone trying to rape me.

Also easy in and out via I10 and close to city park.

Agree with the above other than Lakeview has much more walkability than Old Metairie assuming you are pretty close to the Harrison corridor. I’m in walking distance to basically the same amenities as Glassman uptown except the restaurants aren’t the same quality. Also, you are talking a difference in price of about $100/sq foot in OM.

But I 100% agree with the other points. I hate living in Orleans parish even though I like my neighborhood.

I say all of the above and I live a block from Harrison (steak knife, parlays, etc.)

Can you narrow it down to a couple block area? Sounds like a good spot.
